Any one know what the lowest number of teeth you can get on a freewheel is before you start having the internal diameter reduced at the outer side? 13 teeth? 14 ?

anyone even understand my badly phrased question?

The smallest with 1 3/8" threads is 16t. There was a 15t made by AC Racing but it's no longer in production.

Smallest with 30mm threads is 13t.

Or do you mean on a multi-speed freewheel?

Either single speed or a 3 / 4/ 5 speed. It is more for show really :)
it is for a Xlyte hub, so not sure what thread, not realised there were different threads for the freewheels

I had seen soem advertised as 13 tooth but just was not sure

but cant really see if the inner is threaded, or if they are stepped down and there is a step reducing the diameter or not.
I am making a new axle for my 5304, and want to go for thickest axle possible...which an 11 tooth freewheel interferes with..I think..off to workshop now to check

They'll both have 30mm x 1mm threads, which won't fit...

Cheers for that crucial bit of info..could have bought more stuff that would not fit :)

Interesting fact this.

I would like to use a single freewheel on my new build.

Where can I find out what speed range I can expect to pedal at with a 16t rear and 52/53t front ????

Kudos

Someone needs to design/make a small tooth count freewheel with the big hole. any suggestions on design? i know a guy...

This site is usefull for gears speed cadence etc.

Even with 53/11 I'll need to pedal at 80rpm to hit 33mph...

Kudos
