Ordered the taps to clean out the crank arm pedal threads and the aforementioned cheese-free pedals.
Plans for a new faster e-bike to replace this one for the kid are solidifying. I'm going to use my old BMC "600 watt" motor and its Crystalite controller with an existing inexpensive steel hardtail MTB. That motor dragged me along at 30MPH for about the first 5 years of the saggy Ping pack's life. I haven't decided whether to build up a new battery pack or just buy one yet but it seems like there's not a huge difference in price unless I can find some quality used 18650s. The Ping pack is way too heavy and bulky to re-use again.
