boostjuice said:Wow, doesn't wide angle video make things look so much faster! What sort of top speeds were you each getting to on the long flat straights? It looks like 100kph sometimes, but I'm guessing it cant be more than 70ish? Somehow my little MD80 narrow angle camera makes 70kph look like a wimpy 30kph. Time to Go Pro methinks... Hyena, were you able to utilise the 3spd SA hub on Pauls bike, or was it broken? I couldn't detect gear shifting during the vid.
Thanks. I was worried it'd get a bit boring because of it's length. I normally try to keep my videos to around 3-4 minutes as I know I myself loose interest after that. I wanted to include everything from the day though and as you say with a few riders it makes it interesting. I think if it was just 1 bike riding along it'd get bored watching it, even with the nice scenery. I'm jealous of the nice bike paths they have there in perth, there's nothing like that around where I am.boostjuice said:That's the most attention keeping e-bike video I've seen to date.
I think my bike topped out around 50, Pauls is faster due to the gearing. I think previously he said it tops out around 70? His actually had 8 or 9 gears - using all the standard gears of the rear deraileur. I had a quick ride in the carpark but only got to use a few of the gears and didnt get up to high speeds. I'm not used to shifting the gears for the motor so it was a little akward and I missed the surge of power that you get from a high voltage hub that goes from 0 to top speed with a single twist, but I imagine the through-gear system would be fun once you've got the hang of it and obviously more efficient. What sort of top speeds were you each getting to on the long flat straights? Infact i've been taking it down to the beach lately, having a ball doing 5th gear jumps on the washouts and getting perilously close to the water as the waves roll in, quite a unique experience while watching the sunset over the oceanThough i've noticed i plough through my battery doing this - i only got 15kms / 7.5ah yesterday, thats my worst economy yet! I'd say half of that mileage was hardish beach plus struggling through soft sand in 2nd gear to get to the beach itself... all at wot ofcourse
