Obviously someone spent time and money to do this, but I never have understood why anyone would want to make an ebike look like internal combustion, even to the point of installing fake exhaust pipes?.

this was the scwhinn stingray ebike. it had a small 200W brushless motor originally on mine @ 24V and they put the SLA packs inside the silver cylinder banks.

this bike is a later model and they may have added the exhaust pipes with this later model. maybe this guy has his batteries in those leather saddlebags. he has a different saddle too.

he put a different motor on the rear but used the same frame. he also used the same over sized 4" wide rear wheel. mine has bent forks on front from the kid doing jumps with it.

Dennis,

I'm so glad that I posted this pic. I had no idea that this was a factor e-bike. Great info!

it looks like he modified it a lot too.

if you look in between the banks of cylinders you can see the two black spot which is the original on/off rocker switch on one side and the charging plug on the other.

i think he is still using that for his battery too because he has incorporated a quick disconnect lever at the lower right of the 'motor' and the top center of the middle cylinder has a quick disconnect to the tab coming down from the frame. so i think he can just pop the battery out.

and he has a huge controller under the bottom bracket.

all painted, and has some decal that says 'e rider' or something like that on the rear stay from the bottom of the seat tube back to the rear axle.

I'm always on the lookout for other ebikes. It always a fun conversation talking to another ebiker.

Also, I saw last week a gentleman riding a touring bike with panniers. But my eyes went directly to the front gear hub. lol
He was on doing 10mph/15kph at best. Probably 24volts :p

I have an identical bike. It's not a Sting Ray, it's an "E-Rider, G-Bike, Raw E-Chopper, etc." I've seen it listed under different names with generally the same specs and components. Mine has a 500w DC brushless rear hub motor and it came with that heavy as bricks 48v SLA battery that looks like a gas motor. It has a 24 inch back wheel and 26 inch front. Mine had that ridiculous exhaust on it too.

Cool Dan!

Update your profile to show us where you are from! And welcome to the forum :)
If this is your first post, cool. Have you been lurking around here?

I also build and play guitars and basses out of exotic woods. Thought I'd mention it as I see your name as MusicMan :)

This link is in the biker bar here on the forum where mostly any topic goes, forum rules still apply ;)
These are two guitars I just finished building.

it is identical to the stingray, it has the same front forks and frame. it has the same silvered plastic fake engine, same 4" back tire. so if it was not made by schwinn then it was made by someone who bot the stingray parts from the manufacturer and built a different bike. everything is identical to the schwinn except it is 36V, and mine is 24V.

Whoa that's awesome Tommy L! I'll definitely check out your guitar builds! I'm new to the forum, and forums in general, I'll update my info. I've been lurking and gathering as much info as I can on various aspects of the whole e-bike scene. Really awesome stuff being built around here! My bike is due for a new battery as it's still got that 48v SLA on there and it sucks pretty badly. I get like 4 1/2 miles tops on a charge now. I agree that the bike is very similar to the schwinn stingray but it is a different build. Basically a copy with a beefier frame, extended forks, and bigger wheels. I saw a kid on a stingray riding around town and chatted with him while we sat on our bikes the other day. The stingray was a bit smaller than my bike and not as long(and he didn't have a motor). Shoulda seen the kid's face when I took off without pedaling!
