Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Nah, I just wanted to point out to anyone reading it that *didn't* know that the Wh doesn't refer to motor power, but to battery capacity, because lots of people don't even realize there *is* a difference in what all this alphabet soup means, and that it could be critically important to them to get it right when they are picking out the parts for their builds. :)

(Otherwise they might misread some spec in a kit or part that ends up screwing up what would have otherwise been an awesome ride, and costing them time and money getting the *right* stuff after eventually figuring out (probably after a multi-page thread of confusion-fixing) what is wrong. Not that uncommon, unfortunately.)

Well Rix I hope you get your flux's soon, make sure you put some pics of your builds for us. I think my alpha frame was the second batch. The missus says I've got too many bikes  so no beta for me at this stage  loving the alpha, it's a great bike and under $5k for my build, a bargain as well.

The Beta is small. Perfect for squirreling away in a corner of the garage. Just order it and keep it as a backup emergency eBike build junkie fix. We all need our secret stash when the itch to build comes!

As you build, just leave the handlebars off and put some cardboard boxes in front of it. Worked for me so far but at some point, she may wonder why I am collecting so much cardboard!

Amateurs!

You must infect partners with the ebike/ebike modification bug.

Be warned... at which time, you will remain perpetually broke and it will be the only limitation to indulging your inner madness.....

I made this mistake once before way back, several years back. I didn't know the difference then  This time is was strickly a Freudian slip. I promise. I got battery capacity on the brain. Building a new lipo pack for the home build. Easy though as its 12s and 2P Lipo Banks.

Ian, what Mammalian said, thats what I am dong, I got bike parts stashed or covered up all over the garage. When I get these builds complete I will tell the GF that I had enough spare parts around to build a couple of more ebikes. She won't know the difference. Hell, she thinks my newer Fighter is my old Bomber with some custom modifications, and the Bomber my dad has at his house  is his. I have a truck with a manual transmission. Did you know each time I put a clutch in that, she thinks it cost 1500 bucks. Yah, to date, I put 4 clutches in it with only 30,000 miles.  Thats how I am hiding the money for ebike shit.

Hahahahaha.... No chance that clutch story could back fire. Nope, no way!
Hahaha.

Lets put it this way, my GF thinks Manual transmissions are high maintenance  and they suck.

 +1 my gf seems to have built in bs detector, still trying to beat it but she always knows :? But I have to keep trying. I had ebike withdrawal once, not going there again.

I am so fuqd if that happens.

Beta swinger pretty narrow compared to alpha. Still room for a 24inch 50mm wide rim though.

hey all,

I am almost done with the build! I am wondering however where/what BMS to get. I decided to go with the hobby king multistar high capacity 4s 20000maH multi rotor lipo pack (I can fit 5 in the bike, so I will be 20s. I figured it was very necessary to use a BMS, with the danger of these batteries with thermal runaway. For all of you with similar packs in your flux, what BMS should I go with?? It would be nice if I was able to monitor each voltage and display it as well, but I realize that might be a luxury.

Thanks for the help!!

In the mean time, here she is!!

It kind of back fired. The GF told one of the guys she works with about my clutch maint. requirements, well now her male coworker thinks I am pilgrim that cant drive a manual truck with out smoking clutches and should have an automatic. Whats worse, I got to play along :? and let him think I'm a squid.

Very sweet Fritze! 20S 20Ah pack, perfect size. Nice pack and you could technically bulk charger to 82 volts which is a very conservative 4.10 volts per cell or even go to 83 volts which brings up individual cells to 4.15 volts, and then use a charger like this to top them off if you need the extra 20wh. if you do go this route, I would recommend you monitor individual cells with bulk charging, especially for the first 10 cycles to make sure none of your cells shoot above 4.2 volts on the way to the HVC. All said, charging through a BMS is still a safer bet.

Nice Fritze! I'm digging the complete look. I too am interested in a good 20s BMS but I haven't seen a recommendation yet either.

BETA Pro tips: fit the upper shock mount •then• the seat frame.

Don't use a hex key for the seat frame bolts. You'll never get it back out.
Use a flat screwdriver in the hex head and use a spanner inside the battery box section on the nylon nuts.

Needless to say, I got to come up with another way to hide the money, this is the last time I use the clutch and pressure plate excuse. I shouldn't have mentioned this on the thread, I kinda think this is karma tugging at my a$$. :?

I had my black frame hiding around the back and my wife found it. She's forgiven me some how.

Thats awesome Rod, well you know my situation, I got to just mislead and move on.

I might build it up now that she know about it.

I have all the components minis the brakes, handle bars, headset and a few other bits and pieces.

I might buy a couple of hundred cells from Tumich 3500 mAh

If I do a 10p pack then this should give me 100 amps continuous.
