Rick, I went with M8 x 19.0mm next step is M8 x 21.8mm and it is way to wide.

That is great info, thanks Allex. I will need to do the same, when the frames arrive.

Thanks Rix, yes it is for flux alpha. Made some good progress this weekend. Basically finished the battery and test fit it. Allso got the Max E mounted. Now the fun part - mounting and hooking at all up. Shame the weekends almost over!

Cheers! I might get to even ride it soon ! :D

Looks awesome Allex. I sold my Alpha, so time to start my beta.

Moto rims look so nice.

I am putting some ferrofluid inside my tc3080 motor

Then seal the covers with thermal grease for maximum contact and heat dissipation to the covers.

Please post up your findings. I got some Ferro Tech APG1110 on the way, and my spokes are on the way. Should have it up and running next month.

A green chain huh ? Well I'll see your green chain and raise you a red one :p

Nice progress Lash. How are you planning to fix the adaptto to the bottom of the frame ?

In unrelated news it's time I got off my tail and updated my website to reflect the new flux range. So I issue you all a challenge, take some sweet pics and your rides and fight for HEB homepage pinup status :p

It's some Chinese brand, nothing readily available elsewhere AFAIK (except on my kits :p )
I like it and the dual sport tread suits the sort of riding I'm doing these days (and probably most others too) Not as much grip as a knobby when going hard but thus far I've not had any grip problems and the front end comes up before the back end breaks out.

Thanks Hyena, To fit the Adaptto I drilled four holes and bolted it on with the bolts supplied. The heads of the bolts could be a bit thinner to prevent poking into the battery, but I am not going to worry about it right now. Also down the track I'd like to make a little cover for the adaptto to keep rocks and crud from smashing into it. Im thinking some rectangular pvc downpipe or something from similar from bunnings should do the trick, painted black or something.

While on the topic of affixing things, I can be pretty confident that industrial Velcro is going to hold my fuse and BMS securely to the inside top of the frame, super good hold and no drilling etc.

As for your photo challenge, I might have to break out the SLR soon, get some mood lighting happening, oh yeah!

Cool. I guess an ideal solution would be if the bolts aligned in the trough between the braces along the bottom, then when you put a piece of foam over for the battery to sit on there's no protrusions. You don't want to risk any sticky outy bits. If there's any possible way the battery can move around and make contact with rivnuts or bolts or other structures inside it will! I had one guy a while back (with a different frame) use soft foam that compressed over time and with the weight of a heavy battery constantly bouncing around and pushing down a bolt head wore through and chewed into the battery, killing the cells. Thankfully the failure that ate a hole in the pack was just a slow fizzle burn mark and not a doomsday lipo inferno.

Excellent, I want to see pics in front of Parliament house (burnouts ripping up the lawn are optional  ) and all sorts of other cliche Canberra / Aussie stuff. haha.
Last time I was down I got a photo of my bike in front of a tank at the war memorial. That's a good backdrop :)

Hey lash I'm looking at your double decker battery - is that 18s6p or 20s6p per layer please?

Reason I ask is that it looks like there is a chance to make two batteries each 20s6p and parallel them once loaded inside. It wouldnt fit through the cutout as a single unit but might as two seperate ones.

Yes I am quite paranoid about damage and shortouts to my battery even though I am happy with the construction. I will be probably putting a layer of plastic or rubber and underneath the battery and ensuring there are no poky outy bits to damage the battery, ie the base higher than the bolts. I used a combo of foam and corflute (3.0mm) around the battery itself as protection. I am yet to determine exactly how I will hold it in place, but I think compression pieces against the sides and things will be good. An idea I also had was to use a small tube or sports ball bladder to inflate against it and the frame to hold it down.

Hey Sam, its a 18s10P pack, Samsung 30Q cells. Fits in pretty nice and is about 360 to 370mm long
I would have liked 20S but this was a good compromise and keeps it simple.

And Hyena, you have sparked my imagination and I am tempted to accept your challenge despite my somewhat now wiser judgement. :)

Cheers, Lash.

Yah that red chain is loud as well. Like your build Jay, will do something similar when I get mine.

Hey Lash, was there any way do you think of fitting the Max E in there with the battery set ?

No chance of it fitting inside unfortunately. Close to fitting but really need another inch of height I guess or have a wider gap up top underneath the frame, where the cables run. would be nice to have it fit though. I dont think it will matter when in done with it. I like where bikes are heading like the Qulbix Q76R that is designed around the 18650 cell size. Utilizing space is where its at.

Lee did your frame ahve the two ribs along the bottom of the frame inside about 10mm high? Mine didnt but Sundrive's one does.
