Steel Ebike Frame EASTGEM ~600$

Thanks man! I searched steel frame, ebike frame, and eastgem. Didn't occur to me he'd be selling denzel under his name. Good for him! Looks like it may be separate businesswise from eastgem, but the same products.

It's noted that they are ems shipped, so that's right to you, everything taken care of. The price def reflects that. It seems a bit high (compared to other sellers offering ems dhl etc) but I assume the aliex fees are in with the shipping.

Please let me know if anyone gets a quote on a frame and some tires!

Edit/// Here's the frame! about 615$ shipped to the states

How far is that BB\crank from the ground?
And how does that compare to the others?

I see the rear dropout angles upward then flattens out on the EASTGEM, then I see others are straight but angled MORE upward.

Yes, there's some differences. I don't have exact numbers yet, but my speculations and calcuations are on the last page for rough geometry and clearances. They're all subjective based on wheels and suspension.
I'll go over it when I pick it up, but I may not have a rolling build for a while. Might save it for the doldrums of winter :)

Yep. He should also try for better tags with 'ebike' if possible. He should also try to list the naked frames and tires, among any other accessories he has a mind to.

I picked mine up, well packed and handled. I'll seek a partial refund, because 1200 is beyond fair price and is about +65% what I was lead to belief it would cost. A good comparison of shipping would be to requote it with ems, refund the difference, plus the 150 that I 'spent' going to pick it up.

Anyway, the 'spartan' frame, accessories and tyres look excellent.
Frame has a 6" head tube and weighs just shy of 20lbs with the bb, headset, and plastic sides.
The geometry looks excellent to bolt up a bht or similar under the front of the swingarm
Battery room looks like about 3x6x13" rectangular
Horizontal clamping d/o's

tire.JPG
I really like the 24x 2.4 tyres. they weight about 2lbs/pc. knobby
Also 24x3" tyres, about 5lbs/pc, more of a enduro-ish tread

I'll do some better pictures and info when I start messing with it. Let me know if anyone wants other specs in the meantime!

Nutspecial, ive always wanted to see a closeup of the dropouts-welds :) . cant figure in my simple mind why they were placed on the frame like that?

Seems steep for that frame, hope something works out for you/

I've avoided commenting because there are so many knock-offs out there, and I didn't want to sound negative if someone was willing to risk their own money. Since an ES ember has actually recieved a product, posted pics, and detailed the actual price out of pocket...this may be worth talking about. The video posted earlier has a web-address from Russia.

One thing I like about this frame is that the BB is attached to the frame (as opposed to the swingarm), which means it can take the Lightning Rods Big-Block as an option. Of course the BB type and location is not an issue for hubmotor builds...

Is it a 68mm, 73mm, 83mm, or 100mm BB?

The packaged price including shipping was $1200 to your door?

Dang, that is expensive. I picked up a raptor 140 when it was on sale for $850shipped to my door. Really sorry to hear your shipping charges was that high.

I like the looks of the Raptor 140

800 euros

83mm shell, not sure if it could be cut down without tapping threads.
Not sure if anyone would want/need to anyway

I'll look at the threads when I swap bb's for a wider tread. . . .

If you guys wanna know how much the frame is, ask Alex on aliexpress. Search 'denzel'
I'm also curious what he'll sell the 24inch tires for. I really like the 24x 2.4, and some might like the 3"

I'm sure dude would want to sell more, so the price should be good.
Also check out the whole bikes- not my style, but maybe they're good value to buy vs build?

No worries on the price, I'm thinking it won't be nearly that high now for others since Alex is on aliex. He offered some concession to me, so hopefully he follows through.

The paint is definitely thick. It's an orange peel finish, I actually like it. Once I start modding the swingarm I can get a better idea of adhesion, thickness, and paint type. I'm guessing enamel?

I personally asked Alex to put the frames and tires on aliexpress. Hopefully some accessories too. You guys should soon have some prices to compare! For the record, he reimbursed me the extra shipping cost. He lost money on me, just to make the prices fit with the proper shipping he's offering now. He did the right thing, and I appreciate it. We both took a hit on the deal, but I'm happy for the experience and the product seems high quality with great prices.

One of the knobby 2.4" tires will soon go on the mantra. I'll verify inflated measurements on a 32mm rim.

The frame: played around and started assembling. Seat bracket was the trickiest, but a modified allenwrench worked. One of those flexi drivers prob wouldof been easier, but couldn't find mine.

Measurements: This bike is gonna be pretty BIG!

Running a 26" front
24" or 19"mx rear,
10" rear shock (fox dh 8.5" + 1.5" bracket extension)
marz888 (set 23" axle to head bottom) :

seat 36" to top of tube insert
stem/post 24" stem to seatpost
standover 34"
bb cl 15"
bar end cl 43"
wheelbase 50"
rake 63deg

I will drop the marz 1" and am thinking of dropping to 19 or 24 on the front also, to lower bb,rake, seat, standover a bit
-I'm guessing:
seat 35
bb 14
bar 41
rake 65

Obviously, one could then shorten rear until rake gets flatter, which would drop the seat and bb more. I guess people could also run 17"/20" wheels, or a shorter front fork. Alot of customization is possible.

swingarm:

Dropout 155mm horizontal clamping (looks like it will work with my dual freewheel design
Tire 4" (up to) with a 24/19
Bht YES (it appears a bht will boltup w/o extending/modifying swingarm or dropouts!
Chainlines should be excellent!

This thing will probably weigh 90lbs w/ mx rims and tires. I am thinking I will try the 24x3 and 24x2.4 tires first. I wish the 3" were more aggressive, but they are a good enduro tread.

I wish mounting the bht would be as easy as the template was. It will be a pita unless mounting to the frame instead of swingarm, but I haven't investigated how much chain growth would be involved- maybe not that much. This will be a curious animal to ride.

If anyone has any questions, comments, don't hold back.

Also, here's the frames. 'Gross' - hmmm I ordered the 'spartan' but measurements appear the same.

Eastgem...that would be the denzel guy that refused to answer easy questions with straight answers here on the forum about his stuff for sale, like here:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69481
Eventually enough people reported problems with the member, and he refused moderator instructions to answer the questions being asked, that his membership was deactivated until he was willing to answer--which never happened.

I would not recommend buying from that "eastgem" company, given "denzel"'s behavior.

Well, the frames and bikes are up on aliexpress now. . . . and Alex made good on his word to me even before he was bound by any aliex buyer protection.

I didn't witness the stuff in may, and see no direct issues from then or now with bad merchandise or poor seller interaction. Legit products/prices as far as I'm concerned.

English is obviously not his native language, and he didn't seem to have prior international shipping experience.
I wouldn't write him off forever because he wasn't sure how to quote prices on tires without knowing the quantities, and shipping costs.

Agreed, and he made me whole on my somewhat extreme shipping situation. A really good guy. I'm wondering when the tires will be up on aliexpress too. So far the bikes are a great price even with shipping, and so are the frames.

I mentioned somewhere else not to expect em3 linguistic ability to do customer service, so I'm thinking buyers should have enough prior experience when ordering from overseas like this so they can figure out batteries controllers and hubs for themselves.

I'm really happy with my frame and tires, and the alarm and throttle are unique and promising too.

Great closeups nutspecial, cant wait to see it together. :)

with a mid to high power mid drive motor on a high single pivot suspension design
you would want to mount the motor to the swingarm, not the frame, if possible..
otherwise due to the high pivot, motor power would pull down on the swingarm stiffening the suspension under power with the motor mounted on the frame.. i would prefer more active suspension regardless of power input..

Great point-
Well, chain growth is right around 1.5" (6" susp movement measured @ axle) for frame mounted motor. That still might be doable, as other motorcycles etc can be happy with about 1" and no tensioner.

The anti-sag action I don't think would be good either, and it might be worth it just to customize the mounts for swingarm mounting. Just a tighter and more difficult to mount there.
Potentially, the anti sag torque could take any possible wheel drop out of the suspension, during hard acceleration which is when you want full susp, especially off road. I do wonder how bad it would be, if the torque would actively completely unsag the susp. Thanks for pointing that out!
