Hello guys i just seen in my local bike shop, one of these Surly Pugsley bikes with HUGE wheels and tyres, looks awesome for an electric conversion. Has anybody done one of these with such large wheels. I think i will do one after my full suspension build, looks like fun.

Ultra cool bike, i always thought they'd make a good conversion, i think the tyres may be designed for sand and dusty surfaces. The pugsley is usually used as a mule to carry luggage i.e camping equipment etc hence large rims and tyres

The frame also has the added bonus of horizontal rear dropouts

This is a nice example.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5g6aPzV8FU

I love the Pug, just can't afford one. I'd buy one and add a springer front end to make it a chopper, and have the rear set up with a swingarm and shock. Add four inch wide wheels and ride it til it broke.

135mm front fork spacing to accommodate the 4in. wide tires..

This would be THE BIKE to do a dual hub motor setup.
However, $$$. You could always buy the fork seperate and install it on a regular bike if you wanted to do dual hub.

( there are ups and downs to a dual hub setup, but that's for another topic )
