So I've heard of the dollar bill trick. Wrapping a dollar around the puncture to limp you home. I took a 2" sheetrock screw through both layers. I had a pump, $5, two zip ties and a multi tool. 6 miles left to go.... I tried the bill and it was a no go. Couldn't get pressure.

I thought if I put a zip tie on each side of the damaged tube it might work....It did!!!

I was able to get it to hold enough air to limp a mile or so at a time before it needed to be pumped again.

Never heard of that one personally and thought others would find it useful.

Ride Safe!!

Sorry I couldn't help.
There are a number of threads you may find more info in. The following searches find some of them (though you'd need to ignore the irrelevant results that also come up). These only searsh the first post of a thread; there are other instances in individucal posts within build threads/etc that dont' show up here:

and there are other search terms that could be used to replace those or augment them. :)

That's a good one. I like it, since I tend to carry spare zip ties on my bikes.

On car or truck tires, I have pulled out a small screw or nail, and put in a fatter one, to limp home.

I went as far as making a knot in the tube once. I carry a small 6oz bottle of green slime, and there is always about 2oz in my tubes. Usually, adding the 6oz does the job long enough to ride to my shop. Yet I have very few flats, for I ride big tires and thick tubes low pressure, and don't like riding them worn out. Most of my tires do ride to replacement without a single flat.

Well I found the post useful, at least -- it had never even occurred to me to try something like a pair of zip ties or a knot in a tube to squeeze some temporary, dodgy mileage out.

Seems like it would ride reeeeally terribly, no? Isn't there a significant noticeable thump every time around? How slow do you have to go to make that work?

Wow, that is creative!

The dollar bill trick is for a tear in the tire, not the tube. Hint - you'll have to fold it over several times to get the strength needed.
Actually, I carry a piece of a Federal Express envelope in my bike bag for this purpose. Its MUCH stronger than a dollar bill. ;)

I have a "flat attack" tube in my 26" wheel (similar to a slime tube). I road around with a nail like yours in it for several days before I realized why I had to pump up the tire in the mornings. That solution doesn't work well on skinny 700c wheels for me - those flats are mostly pinch flats (in my case) and the slime doesn't work on the inside of the tube.
