"Auto schemes galore"
http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2016-10-02/auto-schemes-galore.html

In part:
Oct 2, 2016- Automobile dealers have launched various promotional schemes to cash in on the festive spending spree as the country’s biggest and longest festival begins. They have rolled out schemes such as cash discounts, lucky draws, insurance schemes and tour packages to pull in the customers. The schemes last till the Chhath festival in November.

Gotta be a joke, right?

So, what do you do when your note posting, sleep?
Not much time for much more. I get next to nothing done in a day and I can't post a 10th of what you manage!

Hehe... Technically? Only half dead. Came out of a week-long coma 2+ years ago and woke up in a strange bed. (Don't ya hate it when that happens?) So. Broken shoulder, broken ribs, and multiple brain contusions. (Saw pics via MRI of my brain a bloody mess.) To this day STILL haven't got balance back. Right side of body "lame" - tapping to you now via left finger, speaking as a life-long right handed guy, can stagger like a "drunken sailor" w/zero alcohol in my system.

Anyway... Having made "good" money as an accountant for decades can no longer trust myself to do "stuff" reliably. So I've been TRYING to reinvent myself (see my tag line as "Phoenix Ebike Promotions".). Can't hope to keep up with any of the technical masters and wizards that float around on ES... so just thought I might specialize in PROMOTING the tech. As a legit alternative in motorized traction for urban transportation vs the infernal exploding motor powered by diseasal, etc fossil remains.

So. As a promoter? Just trying to "spread the word". Use of the bettery-electric-powered motor has already exploded in other places like in China and in Europe, but in North America? Not so much? ... yet.

So, quote book author/futurist William Gibson "The future is already here just not evenly distributed".

... Anyway. I am STILL reliant 100% on provincial support (taxpayers) for money? (And THANKS to any Ontario taxpayers that are reading), but it's sorta frustrating for an old guy that has spent all his adult life working for a "living"?

So current plans include stuff like offering a box full of stuff/add ons/etc to convert a "cheap" to buy recumbent "cruiser" trike:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=60564

Organizing area "meetups" to get ebike riders to show up places in a group as a "show the flag" effort....

Organizing uphill bike racing (where we all get to cheat w/power-assist)...

Telling jokes mostly about the sad state of urban transportation in this new century (this thread) to hopefully make any readers question their own life styles (those that haven't yet been addicted to electric traction).

Anyway... Nothing better to do these daze as my own life winds down. My "problem"? I come from a long line of "trouble makers". Generations of folks that fought to make the world a better place for future generations. Who see current "circumstances" as "unsatisfactory". That "vested interests" might be "problematic".

Now back to the jokes. :)

Newz from lands "down under":
Ford, General Motors Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. announced in 2013 that they were quitting Australia and shedding 6,600 jobs because of high production costs, distance from potential export markets and increasing competition from electric bike manufacturers.

Ford Motor Co. ended 91 years of car manufacturing in Australia on Friday, with the remaining two Australian car makers due to close their doors next year.

(Something like that... can't recall exactly.)

In newz "Tesla's critics are ignoring a crucial strength of its business"

(No, what Musk wanted to do was redefine what an automobile could be. This has come at a price; Teslas sell for about $100,000, on average. The Model 3 will sticker for $35,000, before tax credits. It'll still be a b**ch to pedal, but you do get what you pay for. Hopefully, some damages won't be so bad, and pedestrians and cyclists won't be injured and killed so much. Maybe. We hope.)

Wiki:
Griffith Park is a large municipal park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park covers 4,310 acres (1,740 ha) of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America.

From the site for the Griffith Observatory (in the park):
Parking at the Observatory is free but limited. The busiest times are usually on weekends and holidays. There may be an uphill walk to the Observatory from some of the parking available along the roads and near the Greek Theatre. Visitors are encouraged to carpool, organize bus trips, hike, cycle, or even take a taxi. Or just buy an electric bicycle.

The cost to own/operate an ebike just got a little cheaper in the City of Belfast in Northern Ireland...

"Belfast City Council votes to end free Christmas parking"
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-37639426

A Belfast City Council committee has voted to end free car parking in the city centre in the run-up to Christmas.

Last year 1,500 spaces were provided free of charge at nighttimes and weekends, for shoppers.

However, after an intervention by Translink, who claimed it caused congestion, the initiative will not be offered this year.

Translink has offered to reduce fares and increase services.

The parking decision will go before the full council next month.
