the introduction of Jeremy in Scrapheap Challenge

I looked and looked for a copy of that episode, no dice. Jeremy, how did it come out?

It's on line and I'm pretty sure you should be able to see it where you are http://www.channel4.com/programmes/scrapheap-challenge/4od#2923093

Thanks to dingotookmybaby for the intro clip - it was a heck of a laugh doing that show, but bloody hard work!

Sigh... only available to a select crowd on a small island somewhere off the coast of Europe...

That's a bugger - I wonder why they do that? I suppose you might be able to spoof the site into thinking your from somewhere else by making your IP address anonymous, as I'm guessing that's the only way they would be able to know where you are in the World (although I'm not at all sure that even that's true).

AFAIK, the URL above is where dingotookmybaby got the clip from, and he's in Australia, so must have got around the 'UK only' restriction somehow.

Jeremy

Yeah I couldn't view it also but I did record it and many more to dvd on a repeat on abc2 in aus when i was a scrappy geek, uh still am, can post more if wanted and glad you like it Jeremy, your a legend

Yep, I was blocked also from viewing it... If anyone figures out how to view it, please PM me the "secret sauce."

Does not work on my work computer (California IP, win7 +chrome).
Views fine from my Android based phone. (custom 2.2 rom with hacked region-free flash 10.2 on an EVO 4G) Open-source FTW :)

I guess that means they are just looking at the IP address and blocking any that they recognise as being outside the UK? If so, then I would guess that using something that makes an IP address anonymous would work.

To be honest, though, it probably isn't worth the hassle unless you've got nothing better to do for an hour.

It was totally worth it to get to see you in action my friend. :) You looked great! That team was damn lucky to have you. :)

Thanks LFP, glad you found it interesting. If you want to laugh at me being far, far to serious for my own good, and looking like a real nerd, then there's a short bit of video here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A687233 that I did for a BBC project years ago (you can tell it's old, as I wasn't quite so grey). I'm in the 5th clip and maybe the last one on that project page. The BBC site is a pain though, as it needs RealPlayer to work.

Thats the downside to a mac.(strange that they were the original hackers) I don't think it's compatible with realtime but i'll try when I get back from work, sign up and everything sheesh!,
I have lots more full copies scrappy challenges on dvd whether they play in all parts of the world I'm not sure, but can easily post out to those wanting or I'll put more of the same episode on you tube, are allowed 15 min upload time now so with mabye three clips can get all on,

BTW Jeremy, great outcome with that Airboat one,

VLC media player. The extremely flexible open source media player, handles all the proprietary video file formats like a champ, and works for Mac/PC/Linux. When you have an embedded video, use google chrome (do they make that for Mac??), have it show the embedded video source, and go to "open" in VLC, paste it in, and poof! Video with no bloatware from real-player. If it's a regionally locked you can use a region appropriate portal for VLC to access the video source through (most of the time that works...) If your DVD's are region encoded (what a sack of feces idea that is...), just rip them with one of the many open-source options that destroy any video "protections", convert them to DivX, and start seeding it as a torrent. If you only want to allow our members to have the files, only post the tracker on this site, or if you want to only allow select people to get the files, only PM/email folks the tracker file who you want to have it. I'm sure some folks on here have a seedbox or two, so if you want to get it to them first (FTP or whatever), they could seed the torrent at high speeds for the rest of us.

Jeremy is too humble to realize that during the episode he accidentally mentioned some of the details of his "cold fusion" power device which jump-starts from the local pond he turned into a giant 'Leyden jar', and the government is trying to block access to the episode.

I was only able to see the episode after adjusting the metal plate in my head. I can assure you that when the mother-ship lands, I will ensure that Jeremy's name will be on the "list of the protected".

Thanks, and thanks to dingotookmybaby for taking the time to upload those clips.

Watching that clip of the competition was fun, I'd forgotten how shit-scared I was of having it conk-out again on the last and final run. I didn't take it over 1/4 throttle all the way around, until the last part of the straight where I started to gradually open it up. I kicked myself for 20 minutes or so after that run, knowing that the thing could have gone a heck of a lot faster. We didn't get to see the Diggers run, as they had us shut up in the crewbus while they went around the course, so we didn't know the result until they announced it on-camera (as I guess you can probably tell........).

Jeremy

I really enjoyed that, thanks for the upload dingo and good work Jeremy. I'm curious, what do they do with the airboats after the show, back on the scrapheap?

You were on Scrapheap Challenge? I thought you were cool before, but now...

I have every episode of that show and the American show that came after.

So impressed!

What a hoot. Thanks for the Uploads. I just wasted an hour trying to use a proxy server to spoof my ISP. Then I saw the uploads.
Thanks Jeremy for the entertainment.

Pretty much, yes. I think the engineering crew had their eye on our engine to use for a propeller powered go kart runabout on set, but the rest would have ended up back on the heap. The heap has generally got a pile of bits of old builds piled on top of the other stuff; sometimes you can spot them there in later shows.
