Been for a spin, 15mph held nicely on normal roads, a bit slower or add pedal for inclines. 20mph downhill (or pedalling if you are mad) tops out at 42V max for the lithiums.

I need more speed, so as not to be noticed by the fuzz I think 20mph is about right. that will require rewinding the 408 to a 406. Anyone done this to a Crytalyte yet?

Finaly, anyone been done here in the UK for a too fast an EBike?

Yes I have, there are three factors deciding the winding route.

1. The pack is the insides of an off the shelf one repackaged, if I need more range I will just add another.

2. The present windings had a short to ground that required a repair, of course this was the piece of wire under all the other ones.

3. I am shure I can wind a better (more copper, less endturn length) armature than is there.

3.5 Why not!

Mil spec connectors (62GB series here) are super but expensive, I guess about 150 quids worth on the bike. Luckily I got mine from a mate in the military industry.

You might be able to rewind it so it's like a BMC or Kollmorgen motor which has much less copper in the ends. It's kind of hard to describe how they arrange this, but instead of each coil going around 3 poles, the coils go around a single pole. This greatly reduces the copper in the ends, which is basically wasted energy. The windings are placed in groups of 3 poles in series, but the middle pole has the windings reversed.

I think a diagram would help here.
