The industry already offers complete hybrid and EV solutions, the car makers just have to say "I want that". I don't understand what they're waiting for...

The best hybrid system I have ever seen. A small (but very powerful) 3 cylinder Dizel engine, 7-speed double clutch gearbox and a 150hp electric motor on the rear axle and a 90hp motor on the front. Small Li-poly battery pack.

But I don't believe that they will bring it to the market

Why I like Germany... When you see this:

But you can't do it for long because of the traffic

This is your enemy if you're driving to fast

Ditto Luke's comments! Outstanding pix. It is also clear that "Elvis has left the building..." the electric locomotion revolution will be led from outside the USA... :( compliments to the thinkers and innovators around the world! :D

I wouldn't be so sure that USA is not in the leading position...

I'm in Europe. The only thing I buy for my electric cars here are DC motors. Everything else comes from USA and China

Just look at the companies you got:

A123 Systems

AC Propulsion

Tesla

UQM

Fisker

...

"...The industry already offers complete hybrid and EV solutions, the car makers just have to say "I want that". I don't understand what they're waiting for..."

In spite of careful and thorough polling of potential customers, the original 2-seat Honda Isight and the Honda Accord V6 hybrids had to be discontinued in the US due to low sales. Many customers "asked" for them, but when finally presented with a choice, they bought a Toyota Prius.

With Prius selling over a million units so far, the new 2010 Insight and Ford Fusion hybrid both look very similar to the 2010 Prius...I am a big fan of EV's and Plug-in hybrids, but I can understand the frustration when a company makes multi-million dollar decisions based on what customers ask for, then the same customers don't buy what they said they would.

It also takes a couple years (at least!) from "I want that" to..."here's the keys, your neighbors will be soo jealous!", and the global economic downturn has thrown many long-term plans off-the-tracks. I DO like the heads-up speed display on the inside of the windsheild.

Just for fun, here's a pic of a 1938 Auto-Union high-speed attempt car...268-mph/432-kph. The new 4-electric motor version shown above (at the EV show) implies "we set a record 71 years ago with gasoline, and we will set another record soon with electricty"

Oh, you misunderstood something... This was not an EV show, it is a general automotive exhibition (the largest on the planet btw.).

I uploaded the EV photos only since this is a EV forum

I have tons of non EV-related photos too

Its rare to see a collection of vehicles in one place with at least 2 capable of besting my daily driver civic in a drag race. I guess I need do a more serious engine build if I ever go to Frankfurt. :)

The drivetrain technology certainly isn't the limiting factor that limits electric cars, and your excellent photos well illustrate that point. It all comes down to the immature energy storage system technology.

Did you see anything from EEstor by chance? It seems they claim to be holding the silver bullet to slay the key flaw of electric vehicles. Fingers crossed that they are not bluffing! :)

Ooooo, nice to see you here, Mate.

I understand that every producer came with some sort of electric stuff...
...only Luca di Montezemolo came with brand new V16 with 1000Hp....

Looks like the photos got a little mixed up. This caption was meant for the red Audi

Hi Hal :D

With their 0,00001 % world market share they won't save the planet with ecological cars.

I would like them to continue build gas powered sport cars. Just in case I miss the V8/V10/V12 sound in my EVs :)

Amen to that...I hope i dont live long enough to see the end of the V8 V10 V12 engined cars...

OK Ok OK Luke your lil 4 pot screamer V8 killer Civic doesn't sound to bad either i must admit ...any more footage from Battle of The Imports?

Nope. Those are not for speeding, those are for the automatic toll collection for trucks.

Wrong.

The toll collect sensors are much smaller.

I'm driving a lot trough Europe so I have to know such things
