Theft protection mode?

Hi, I recently purchased a 15kw Alibaba stealth bomber and while looking for a switched 72v power source for some accessory off road lights I think I triggered some sort of anti theft setting. I opened a 30a cylinder fuse holder and the moment I snapped it closed again the back hub motor beeped several times and now no longer moves when I twist the throttle. When powered on everything else is working except for the hub motor. When that fuse is pulled the bike does not turn on so I believe that is the 72v source for the controller to switch on. Any thoughts on how to reset this? The controller is a Fardriver 72270 and everything was working fine until I touched this fuse which is still intact.

I would expect the manual to include information on setting up the antitheft (and all the other features of the bike). Do you have a link to an online version from the seller/manufacturer you bought it from? O can you post pics of the relevant pages if it came with a (rare) physical copy? They may help us help you with this.

If there's no manual for the bike itself, then you may have to draw up a wiring diagram for it to see if there is a device somewhere in the control system wiring to disable the rider inputs to the controller. That device could have physical reset button, or require a PC program or phone app to reset, this app would come from the device or bike manufacturer or seller.

If the model of FD you have, and the firmware version installed on it, supports an antitheft, you'd probalby have to use the setup program / app to get back into it, which may require the factory password (or whatever pw the seller set, if they used this feature). Some of htem use Bluetooth phone apps, and some use a cable to a PC (usually windows) with a setup program run on there. The app / setup program would come from the controller manufacturer for this.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately the bike didn’t come with a manual or wiring diagram-only an electronic testing device which is basically a box with a number of multicolored alligator clips and two plugs which can be plugged into the controller or the hub for diagnosis. I have a Bluetooth dongle coming Thursday which should allow me to connect to their app but I have no idea whether the app will allow me to reset. I messaged the seller but it was 2am in China so hoping she’ll get back to me sometime tomorrow. I don’t know why I thought disconnecting and reconnecting the battery would reset anything but it doesn’t.

Not terribly surprising they don't include useful (honestly, required) info like that with it; it's fairly uncommon for them to do so. :(

The box sounds like one of these (there's a number of versions):

Handy to have, but a bit...discomfiting that they feel the need to include one with their bikes. ;) If you need to use it there are threads around here explaining how; most listed under things such as "ebike tester" or "motor / controller tester" and the like.

Regarding the wiring diagram, if they don't provide an accurate one (or one at all), I highly recommend drawing one up now , wire by wire (not just cable by cable) when it's new and working. That way later if something goes wrong, or there's a crash or vandalism that damages wiring, you'll know what each one is for and where it goes, so you can more easily test and repair. Makes upgrading parts easier too, or adding things (like the lights you started out trying to add that brought you here).

Sometimes that works, just like power cycling or rebooting your phone or computer sometimes works to fix a wierd problem that never happens again. ;)

I had a controller today that lost its "configuration" with the motor phases, so I had to plug in and quickly unplug the White "learning wire" to itself. It's happened before, and the motor worked after that, but the motor has to be off the ground because its full throttle when the wire is connected. I know you have a different issue but fwiw.......

Did the motor go through an auto learning procedure when you did the learning wire thing? How would I determine which wire is the same on my bike if you don’t mind me asking-thanks for the response

It's 2 WHITE WIRES on the controller if available, they plug together, this will "teach" the configuration to the controller, but the wheel will lurch instantly to wide open throttle, nothing will stop this until the white wire is unplugged or battery unplugged, it lurches in reverse then when unplugged works good going forward, lurches forward..... plug/unplug a second time.

You need the remote for the anti-theft device to turn it off. It makes the phase wires short so it can't roll or run find the unit that's connected to the red connectors of the controller and disconnect it if you don't have the remote.
Maybe you get lucky.
