I just wanna say that this whole 'schene' is fabulous!

I mean how many more elegant ways can you skin a cat.

Where this will end up is anyone's guess but this is great to be a part of.

Thank you for all that is here.

Also. Dont ya think there should be some kind of meetup/competition (maybe there already is has been) but like an endurance race for ebikes (of course we know that only non hub motored drives would have a chance) but how could it be done?

I'll make ya eat them wordz !!

Lets also limit it to 48 v MAX have top speed acceleration and hill climbing included... :p

Seriously though nice idea, if done on a global scale it would have to rely on the person honesty i think
from what i have seen here with current active members they appear to be a very honest lot and i believe
it could work well...Getting indentical courses would be the issue, a running track (as used in athletics)
springs to mind as a "standard" type course that everyone could find in their respective countries. If we
got oober fancy we could have live feeds to ES of the events as they took place even! If we got some sponsorship
from EV type businesses offering prizes for the event I think it would motivate more to take part? There could
be different categories e.g hub and non hub 24 36 48volt and above classes also ... JM2c

I think voltage classes in speed is a no brainer. Should be based upon wattage and wattage only. Volts vs amps vs gearing is a battle worth seeing.

Endurance class should be open to acertain energy vs capacity.

Not certain this thread belongs here (I don't care really, I just hate being admonished)
but HE__ Yea!
I think this is an extreamly cool place & hope to be able to contribute 1/2 as much as some. I frequent a couple othe specialty forums & wouldn't you know it, I run into a couple of the same guys here. (I bump into frankG all over the net, birds of a feather?)
as for a competition? there are a few who could compete, or would want to...but I would like to see a ralley so every one has a reason to show up.(think sturgus) something for every one to participate in & still have a couple "events" where the Hot Shoes could show their stuff & take some bragging rights home with. It would be a blast to meet the crew & display our craft.

It takes a special dedicated person or group to plan, arange & execute a function like that. Any vollunteers?Looks like we need a club! (sons of Anarchy?) or maybe piggy back on some electric car ralley or another "green" event some where central. & we would need plenty of warning so our brothers across the pond could make arangments to participate also (or the other way around if thats the consensis-not in my budget anytime forseable)
Lastly I would never count out Methods hub builds! I give respect to any one who would fearlesly over volt anything & run it right to the fence just to smell the smoke......from the windings & his finger tips from a mis-cue battey hook up.

Definately be fun to watch Methods, he would be a "wild card" either performing outstandingly well or go up in a ball of flames and smoke trying as Liveforphysics snickers in the background at his effort hehehe

FrankG is a KING of DIY IMHO...And an awesome fella too, i'm lucky enough to chat with Frank regularly on Skype (most evenings) what an incredibly knowledgeable fella he is on such a vast variety of topics!workshop.ca

Those EV racers use lipos overvolted and limit their age by leap and bounds.

Something tells me that battery sales would go up for a few dealers with the ES race meetings.

Amberwolfs bike and the like would def need a special class. :D

Class "Curbside Builds" Nothing bought from retailer allowed (with excemption to batteries i guess...)

The 'heavy weight' showdown in that class would have to be Amberwolf V's Naeem...-->
