Hi all, I got fed up trying to find a usable TSDZ2(B) locking nut tool. It's not pretty, a bit rough around the edges but it will take a 24mm spanner / adjustable or a 3/8" torque wrench, have to adjust the torque setting as per a crows foot spanner. Have used it in anger yet but may have to soon, did put a spanner on the flats and loaded up a torque wrench against the spanner seems OK.

The torque on the BB lock ring isn't that critical. You can't count on it to secure the mid drive from rotating ( that's what the other fasteners are for)

I find that "calibrating" the palm of my hand ( by pushing on the edge of the kit supplied wrench, while it's on a bathroom scale padded with a 6" square of plywood) gets close enough. Do the math to convert the torque specs to ft/lbs based on where you load the factory tool ( It's only six inches long, so twenty pounds at the end would be only ten ft/lbs torque at the ring ) but you'll more likely hold the ring wrench more like four inches from the BB, so torque will be a third your lever force.

My bottom bracket lock nut kept loosening on my TSDZ2 until I used impact. Flat blade screwdriver impacted by a rubber mallet on locknut notch. How tight? By feel! Add some blue Loctite aftewards. Been close to 1000 miles hasn't loosened since (per Whiteout marker on locknut).

ps, that's the only fastener on my motor (I have a side stand mounted where the anti rotation mount goes)

classicalgas Hi there, you are quite right, my problem is that all bar two of the bikes I have built are full suspension which has always caused a problem fitting the anti-rotation plate, so nowadays I always fit the new version of the locking nut and it's plate as used on the TSDZ2(B) where it suggests that the anti-rotation plate assy may not be needed. Like I think they have on Bafang min-drives. Retired engineer with CAD system so thought I'd amuse myself, used a machinist thro' www.machining-4u.co.uk to laser cut the shape. Funny how the TSDZ8 only relies on double nuts to stop the motor rotating.

Have used a wedge piece formed from aluminum loaded epoxy putty between the motor case and down-tube, taped both so the wedge could be removed. Have found the red Loctite works as well, may be a thread sealant but easier to get off if needed.
