Looking to run two Sabvotons on a two wheel drive e-bike. Can one throttle be used to control both controllers? Has anyone actually wired up this configuration?
-Thanks.

There are many examples of 2WD systems in various threads on ES using one throttle for both. Generally 2WD throttle* is a good search term to use to find them, but some use AWD, or spell it out.

Different configurations have been used depending on the exact configuration and wiring of the specific bike or system, but generally throttle would be connected to one controller with all wires, and only the signal wire goes to the other controller.

I use this configuration on SB Cruiser to run two different controllers and motors via the Cycle Analyst's single throttle output, which it generates based on my cadence using a common PAS sensor (or much more rarely, the thumb throttle).

Note that if you require identical response from each wheel and your motors, controllers, and wheels are not exactly identical, you'll need to fine tune the individual controllers' throttle response to make them match. You can do that in the controller if it allows it, or with a potentiometer on the throttle input of the primary controller (that has all the wires). If the motors and/or controllers are significantly different, it may require significant tuning of various other controller parameters to make them operate identically (if it's even possible).

Having independent control of each wheel for both traction and braking will give you better performance in any non-ideal condition or situation, though, because sometimes you will run into situations where only fully powering one of the wheels gives you better control or traction or both than powering both wheels identically; the other wheel can be feathered to keep it below the limit of loss of control/traction. This is easier with two independent throttles.

It is possible to wire the system to use both single or independent throttles via a fairly simple switch, if you foresee the need for both.

Ah, ok, so its' the same thing I posted in words, but as a drawing. ;)
