Is anyone familiar with UK laws in regards to the use of electric longboards? Or if there are laws, has anyone ever been hassled by the police? Thanks

I suppose they will be classed like hover boards, and they are illegal to ride on the road and pavment.See UK law for electric bikes (they need pedals),mobility scooters(rider has to be disabled ) and electric hand carts (you have to walk behind or in front not on it)

Hmm that's very interesting in terms of electric bike laws because I have not heard that they must still have pedals, but that makes sense once you take the pedals off it logically is a motor cycle. On the other hand longboards, even in their stock configuration, do not have pedals. Their "pedals" are your feet, not sure if it makes a difference from a legal perspective.

Yea if not fitted its a motorbike/moped,depending on power and speed. The heat is on the hover boards at the moment,no mention of electric skate boards.

I ride mine in town and on roads in the UK and the police don't bat an eyelid. It might help that I'm 47. I ride home from the pub :)

There was a man arrested for riding an electric mountainboard home from the pub while drunk but the case was dismissed as it was deemed that the board was not a motor vehicle.
