Upgrading Currie Motor

Thinking about upgrading my 450watt motor, to 24 Volt 900 Watt Motor. Article says better top end speed (or something close).
Has anyone tried this? My dual 24 volt in par. does good on my 450 watt and should handle the 900 watt.

Unless the motor is wound different then you won't end up with any more speed if you stay at the same voltage. Only if you up the voltage or have different windings in the motor will it go faster. Welcome to the forum btw 8)

Well he'll definitely climb faster since the 900watt motor will draw much more amps. That's assuming the controller and battery allow it.

It really depends on his gearing, but he could go faster on the flats with the 900w, if the current 450 is overgeared when topping out.

You'll get more torque with the higher watt motor -- but not speed. As mentioned, you'll need to up the voltage (assuming the controller can handle it) to get more speed...

I *thought* of doing dual 1000w's.....lol, but it's too complicated for me right now. One would probably be better off with just getting a big hub motor.

Just one 450, but have two 24 volt packs wired in para (can't spell anymore), gives more amp hours.
Just an old man, but I love riding by nice people peddling backwards. Have thought about gasoline
assist, but it's to much noise.
Due to seizure surgery, I do not drive at present. Had brain surgery Dec. 21 of 09 (paid for by the VA) and
will likely have another soon at VA and University Hospital in San Antonio. It's walk or ride a bicycle now.
Electric assist is legal, so experiment..

Only single 450w motor. What about this? 24 Volt 450 Watt Electric Motor with 15 Tooth #25 Chain Sprocket :x
