I got a hub kit from HTB running 36v and I'd like to have a front mounted lantern for nightime but I thought itd be nice to let it be powered off my power supply. Of course thats alot of power but perhaps theres a safe way to divert enough power to keep a basic light shining?

You need a DC to DC converter.

Lyen was selling a nice one in the for sale section here for a while. Other than that.. no clues as to where a good one can be found.

a DC to DC converter is what you need, but how much power does your light pull?
Havent gotten that far yet.. would use most anything though as i could just rig something up. But im not interested in 36v of leds to achieve lumiation. I'm not trying to be seen from space!

I don't think you understood what i'm saying.
A DC-DC convertor takes one voltage and converts it to another.

So for example, it takes my bike's 30-42v and turns it into 6v.

If lyens is $25 or less, I'd buy one from him. Just because he's been good to me ;)

Other than that thunderstruck motors sells a 10 amp dc-dc converter for $25. I've used mine daily for 6 months now.
