In order to comply with European regulations, I only use the motor for pedalling assistance. I live in hilly Norway and can say that this motor makes a big difference when climbing. Now I use 16-20. of the 21 gears when riding uphill on asphalt roads! Concerning the range, a 10 km (6 miles) trip from 0 to 550 metres (1800 ft) above sea level and then the same 10 km back eats about half of the battery. On flat, the assistance is up to approx. 25 km/h (16 mph), what is not fast, but safe and legal, especially on pavements and bicycle lanes.
