Hi folks, I'm going to have two separate 1 day layovers in Hong Kong on my way to & from India in February. Anyone have any tips on what to check out, primarily in terms of ebikes, while there? Of course, non e-bike advice would be cool to (but off-topic for this forum, heh).

I will not be traveling to mainland China (I see Shenzen is right next door; I guess no Ecrazyman/"Shenzen Sucteam" for me) as my time is quite limited...

where are u staying? if it not at a hotel u could get hobby king to ship U some stuff. just my 2 cents

If you go to Central or Kowloon you will not see a single electric bike, you need to visit other parts of Hong Kong, in particular the Islands.

From Central/Kowloon to HobbyKing will take 60 to 90 minutes by MTR (underground train) and walking - faster by taxi but also more expensive.

Most tourists will watch the laser light show (Kowloon side), visit Stanley Market, the Peak (good view of the Victoria Harbour) and Sham Shu Po or Wan Chai for boys toys. It is best not to buy cameras etc. in the the tourist areas such as Nathan Road.

If you want any more help just PM me.

The peak is a nice visit. Staneley market is interesting, but watch out for fake stuff, like the goretex jacket I bought that was not seam taped, and who knows if it's gore tex at all.

Of the islands: For a quiet time on a small island try Lamar island, a short ferry ride away.
For a longer outdoor experience a hike on Lantau is nice. Only part of the island is built up with the airport and condo's so it is one of the few place nearby one can hike a whole day away from the bustle of the city.

The big thing is to follow up on ebike info in India. We don't have info about any motor factories there, but they do exist, so you might be able to open up a whole new avenue of suppliers for us.

eg Don't you have an ebike with a Kollmorgen motor? Those are made in India.

Thanks for the tips, folks. I will need to bring extra luggage for sure to bring back all the various goodies (I got a great suit from India last year... heh). I wonder if I can pick up Keywin controllers without shipping :) That'd be like half price and a half a dozen would last for a while (ok, maybe not that long, given how often controllers get blown up). I've also been really happy with the BMSBattery controller, though it sounds like the exact model changes all the time.

I know ebike sales did not take off until recently in India (I believe it was <100k a couple years ago, but the numbers are now shooting upwards, tho nowhere near China). I remember reading about one company dominating in India this past... I'll have to look up who they are and where they are located.

I'm going to be in Mumbai, Gujarat, and Kerala.

All right, looks like I will be getting a tour of a motor factory... it was a bit hard to figure out what application the motors are for but it will be a good starting point.

I'm going to ping Keywin about the controllers :)
