Nice observations Balmorhea and MadRhino, those are exactly the kind of comments that prove the larcenous pricing of higher end bicycle components and parts has almost nothing to do with R&D like cyclists try to use as justification for pricing. Prices are so ridiculously high only because people are willing to pay them.

Of course. Market law, is to sell as high as customers are willing to pay, and to try getting them to pay a little more everytime.

Those profits of the bike industry had created some absurd developments, and some good too. Still, the price goes down dramatically when people stop buying. One month ago, I was offered a bike at half price. That is lower than dealer cost but, when the dealer has to pay and the money stopped coming in...
Now they are happy. The good weather has arrived, the confinement is ending, people had got used to save the gas money and spending it at better usage... they are buying bikes like there won’t be any left in a week.
