Anyone know where I can get powerpole contacts without having to pay ridiculous $5+ for shipping? Just need some more contacts, not the housing. If anyone has 10 extra they'd sell to me for 3 bucks that'd work.

Andersons is an investment that you should fork out the dough for. I used to use spade connectors. Now that Ive switched to andersons... I will never go back. I ended up placing an order for $50 for connectors and housings. I bitched about it but now that they are in use they have more than payed for themselves. Just spend the 10 or so bucks and get a slew of them.

I bought these and they are just as good as anderson connectors if you ask me.

It's these things...called Crimp-On Quick Disconnects

$1.99 for 3 of them (3 male and 3 female connectors). If you have a radio shack near you, it's really convenient. I put 40 amps through them and it works fine. Been using it for a month and no problems. Make sure you get the 12 - 10 gauge ones.

When I got them, though they were hard to pull apart but I just took a screwdriver and bent the female part open just a bit and now it slides in and out really nicely and it stays together the whole ride.

Those are the connectors that I just changed from. They may be cheap but they are no good for continuous current draw. They can create connections with high resistance. The connector heats up and starts to deform and the heat gets transmitted down the wire and possibly melting the insulation. I know this from experience. I own the proper crimper so that wasnt the issue. It could be a total wattage issue more than amps. I was pulling 4k watts at 88v and 45A. This defintely doesnt suit the job for a setup like that. As I said before continuous loads arent good with these connectors at any voltage. Ive had issues running 12v and 30-40A. If you get the insulated ones and you have a bad connection heating up it can actual start melting and fusing the connector housing that will prevent you from removing it. Ive had housings fuse and wires fuse and melt together. The length of wire would be fine but 6 or so inches away from the connecter was trashed. Ive also seen the same thing happen with bullet connectors and SAE plugs.

hmmm, working fine for me. I'm only on 48v and a 35 amp controller, though.

I did. I ran out of contacts though from re-doing various things. I didn't think to order extra contacts when I order the set though. I just can't get over paying 5 bucks to ship basically a dozen paper clips.

The $ 5 is worth it! You will spend more than that in gas to go find them if you can. Look, I'm spending about $450 or so in shipping for my trike build---get used to it--it is a part of life. I do hope you find them.

Just order enough juicy stuff to justify the shipping. Get contacts in all the sizes. Maybe some nice wire too.
