just had a very good offer on a new 48v 20ah lifepo4 soft pouch type battery with bms and charger
the only spec he gave me was
• Rated Capacity: 20AH
• Fully Charged Voltage: 58.4V
• Rated Voltage: 51.4V
• Max Charge Current: 4A
• Max Discharge Current: 50A
what do you think i am not shore of the Continuous discharge rate c?
but its £300 inc postage he is in the uk same as me so no duty to pay
i did ask what cells thay are ie a123 but he never let me know
and the size
he can do are....from email
good evening, it is the pouch type cells, there are two size options.

1. 17 x 23 x 14 cm
or
2. 10 x 23 x 27 cm

i believe the weight is 8.5kg

those dimensions do not make sense. they are not A123 if they only take .2C for charge and 2C discharge.

thanks dnmun you are the man when it comes to batteries
thats why he never got back to me about if thay are a123s and as you say dimensions ? think i will keep looking and see if a es member in uk will do a better deal thanks roger

Strange he was selling a 15amp 24v headway just before Christmas. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24V-15-AH-LifePo-4-Headway-Battery-Pack-BMS-Fan-Assisted-Smart-Charger-/300836419381 His prices are good though and I was tempted as I think my Ping is starting to lose its capacity. Might contact him if I decide to get another battery as he only lives about 30 miles from me.

If they aren't the same dimensions as a 20 ah A123 pouch, then it's pretty unlikely they are made from A123's. I'll let you hunt that down and compare em.

I don't know the exchange rate at the moment, but it sounds to me like as good a deal as a 2-3c pack such as ping.

Only one way to find out. Put your dollar in the slot, and pull the handle and see if it comes up three cherries.

At least it's a pouch pack, and not hundreds of tiny round cells connected by shoddy spot welds.
