Hi

petrol is pretty much for its weight the most powerful fuel source in the world!! we all pump it in to our cars, we have it in our houses in our camping stoves, cigarette lighters etc etc, I dont see the difference? on the Bionx bikes the lithium pack is right between your legs!

My goodness, but you're a wee feisty gaffer, aintcha? You sure there's not a bit-o-scotch in ya? :)

The difference is that none of those are pressed to the flesh. I think the inverse square rule comes into play here. Even between your legs is preferable than direct contact.

I think I'll save the rest for its own proper thread if I feel like getting into it.

Oh what the hell, we're already here aint' we?

While gasoline is quite volitile, the metals in batteries burn at extremely high temperatures. That's why powdered metals are used in the most devastating incendiary weapons.

If the li-ion battery in my 17" toshiba laptop were sitting on the floor of a commercial airliner and went into dell-mode... it could burn through the aluminum floor and through control systems.

Gas needs to be contained to reap it's expansive power.
