I've mashed .25 copper to .2 nickel with a pair of heated tip pliers. It has much more surface area than spot welding. It's not super srong but it's a solid connection and quite strong. I sanded both the copper and nickel. The best part is is that it's very flat.

third: pulling off and seeing that large surface area is good.
Good idea? And better way to have it stick better?
