Would this work as a 2 speed jackshaft?

Saw this earlier and was wondering if it would work as a 2 speed jack shaft .
I am not an engineer but some of you are, any info would be great and crikey have you seen the price?

I don't see why not, if you build a frame with a BB to hold it, and make some input sprockets or pulleys to mount on the crank inputs, and use it's sprocket or pulley output to your wheel just like normal.

One catch might be if it needs a balanced alternating load on the crank inputs (I don't know, but it's made for that as you pedal)
