First of all, the panel mount XLR, it's a sunken head screw, can someone tell me if it's M2, M2.5 or M3?

Now, we are growing slowly to more powerful chargers and noticed that XLR get hot at around 8A, not to mention 10A+

I googled it and it's a 15A connector which is maybe possible but I guess it is rated for like 12V and not 84VDC.

So, I'm looking for a better (this time 2 pin damn it! it ain't a microphone!) panel connector that can withstand higher currents and preferably a panel connector with less depth than that wisdom tooth deep XLR flange panel mount.

There is the connector ampere rating.
Then there is the cable/wire ampere rating.
Then there is the connection method which is suitable for certain ranges of amperes - Crimped, Soldered, Screwed.

I could have a XT90 rated for 90A, but have a dinky 24 awg wire on it - not good.

XLR's are too big.
Molex might be an option, they may have some sort of weather resistant connector model.
XT90/XT60 is a good standy.

It's deeper, not shallower, but Anderson makes the whole SB series (and others) for anything from dozens to hundreds (plus) of amps, and they make panelmount hardware for them.

You also won't unplug one by accident. ;)
