Hey All, my Xlyte HT35 is suddenly dragging. When hand rotated it feels just like the normal drag but about 5x greater or more. It is steady and smooth just like the normal drag you get from the stator-rotor interaction.

This is the same fully connected and on as well as everything disconnected, controller and battery.

I made sure the axle was seated properly in the dropouts and also had the same result with the nuts undone.

I never heard/felt any bearing grind or anything like that. I did have some hall sensor issues before but I am not sure if a bad hall can do that when everything is disconnected.

Anyone know what this may be before I take it apart?

Thanks :?

Disconnect phase wires from controller, then check each phase wire from the motor to the axle. One of them may be shorted to it.

Would that cause the issue even if nothing is connected? The motor is dragging with no power connected to it.

If a phase is shorted to the laminations, then it short-circuits EM fields and that takes energy from the system, so it adds drag (and causes heat).

Ya, that is the issue. I just wanted to be sure before I took it apart lol.

Thanks for your help! :D
