Hi Is it possible to show us some photos of your achievement? I have a Haibike All Trail 3 with Yamaha PW-S2 E engine I think about installing a small battery for short hikes.

Hi I've had the dongle for awhile now and just picked up another haibike ,but when I use the dongle it's great,switch bike off and it doesn't connect when I switch the bike on, I have to disconnect the dongle from battery and bike ,then reconnect to battery then bike to get it to work, any ideas why?

Any sign of doing this with bosch batterys are only 36volt and on a 29sl haibike theres tons of room for another battery the old 2014 haibike hardtail with a bosch motor and bosch 500powerpack.

As with other brands, the Yamaha PW series motor doesn't allow to use any 3e party battery. But with the use of the dongle described here, the Yamaha ebike will be hacked so that you can use any battery instead of the original expensive Yamaha battery.

This are the most important characteristics of the Yamaha battery dongle:

• You can use any battery on your Yamaha ebike instead of an expensive original Yamaha battery.
• The battery capacity is measured very accurately with an LTC2944 fuel gauge IC, not just simple voltage measuring.
• The battery capacity is stored in an EEPROM so that it is not lost when switched off.

I installed the dongle in a yamaha bicycle one month ago, It mostly works fine but I somentimes have a problem. I got the error 72 in the display and a blinking empty battery. Could it be because I have charged the battery without turning on the display? I think the connections are finely soldered and I done think it has nothing to do with humidity since the bicycle is stored in a dry indoors space.
I tried turning on a off the battery and it sometimes works to reset the error.
Maybe you can guide me with a solution.

Theres got to be a way around it. If u look at the cable on the syncdrive giant by yamaha coming from the motor end its only got the normal red+black- cable!! Its only from the cable coming from the battery that has them extra cables CAN BUS i think there called but has anyone tried a flash? I dont wana open mine as its in perfect working order and the motor but my display the the control one is turning on all lights on and going straight off for those who know a lil about them if theres a issue with motor battery watever only a certain number of lights will come on and will change colour.im been told faulty display from water i waterproof every component on a ebike to insure no liquids getting in im off to trouble shoot it now great news on the dongle tho
