How are you Been doing long time ago

The solar panels make it look sort of like a purple armadillo. Cool.

How's the handling? What happens if you hit the throttle in a corner? Is there any tendency for the tire to spin? How many 6-packs of beer can it carry?

Funny- I thought the same thing when I first stepped back. You and Ben pretty much confirmed that, so..
Purple Armadillo (PA :) ) it is!

It definitely feels like there is something back there. A little body 'English' is helpful to make it handle well, and rolling ON the throttle while exiting turns helps to stand the bike up. I am running two (1-10Ah & 1-12Ah) 36V SLA packs and a 20A controller, so there is enough weight to keep the wheel planted, but not enough amps to make the wheel spin.. unless it is leaned-over in gravel. When it does break traction, it steps out a bit but will not try to to jackknife and would rather stay in-line with the bike. Lagunitas IPA went on sale recently :D and the Purple Armadillo happily carried 2 cases home! However, I did need to shed the panels to make them fit.

The panels are wired in series.. rated at 5 watts each. At high noon, I get 58V per my CycleAnalyst..

It can/will recharge the pack.. eventually :D

Excellent! Purple Armadillo it is :D

Perhaps you could design a folding mechainism for the panels. They could all slide back to the rear like a convertible top or something... drop the 6 packs in, then slide them back over the top to keep the packs out of the sun.
Simpler approach would be some thin rails on each side to anchor the edges and have the rails hinge at one end. Whole thing would lift up like a trunk lid. Might keep stuff dry if it rains too.

Hey Brett! Did U build those tadpoles??????
Doc

Actually the two bags on the frame(small handlebar bags)hold the batteries. The rear rack is the controller(bolted down) and a tool pouch(under the seat).I tried rear carry batteries but I hated the way the bike handled. With the batteries strapped to the front frame it feels just like a regular bicycle. It will feel even better when I replace the nicads with A123s :) Sorry about the picture its the best I can do with a camera phone
