YALU New BBS-Style mid drive kit with external controler

Have the people who've received these weighed them? 8kg seems a lot compared to similar drives.

Zgal48:
What amp rating is the controller you used?

what is the q factor ? or distance between pedals. Are the distance symetric on both sides?

I'm just using 35 amp controller 72volts.

The motor is closer to the left pedal. But both pedals are symmetrical in distance to the frame.

The seller told me the motor is silent is that correct?

Yes, it is silent.

The motor alone or the whole motor/gearbox?
Silent, no whine of the motor or gears? that would be nice!

The motor is silent and the gearbox is noisy when pedalling. But when the motor drives the drivetrain, it is silent. I think the gearing inside the gearbox is made up of metal and not a nylon gear. One day I'll open the gearbox to check if what is inside.

Did you weigh the drive when you had it out? Gear version without two chains right?

here is the motor

Hello all. Thanks for posting about this motor, I am seriously considering it but I have a question. What type of display can be used with this? Are they all compatible? Also, I can't really tell from the pics but is the front chainwheel a freewheel? I assume it is but... y'know. TIA

Hi,
Does anyone know how many magnets in the 60V 1000W motor? I wanted to fit KT LCD8H if it’s possible and setup P1 setting.

Thanks
deeph

Edit: I got message from Yalu that the motor has 8 magnets :?:

Thanks, I'm talking with a sales rep now, just awaiting a response. Also wanted to hear from anyone with knowledge/experience with this brand.

Just got my 60V 1000W kit. Installed with KT LCH8H controller runs fine, but with changing the Phase and Hall sensor comination.
But I got problem running it with 14S battery, its running slow not really slow but slow, about only 135W max. Motor runs sometimes little bit fast sometimes slow at 20W. Should I running 15S battery?

sorry cant help you with the controller part.Do you know the Q-factor of this motor?

sorry I also dont know Q-factor is, so I cant take measurement.

Btw, how do I connect switch to cut-off the electricity when I'm not using it?

Dont have this motor yet,so I cant help.I am thinking about ordering this motor. But I suspect the Q factor is to wide for me.Bad knees

Ok, didn’t know if there is Q-factor for bike parts. So the Q-factor is about 9.8 inches (24.5mm).

And just tried the motor I bought, with 14S it also want to wheelie if I don’t gentle on throttle. Much powerful than hub motor I think. It’s only ‘hum’ (there is not a problem with the motor, I mean just the sound) when it’s run.

I managed it to work with KT LCD8H and a working PAS :thumb:

My problem before was not able to used full power from KT controller but I have tried to ride it and actually the motor run just fine. Needs to test further more though.
Running ZWS controller not SVP.

For those interested in this motor it could be useful to know there is several versions before ordering

Okay, now this looks cool. It's like they took a cyclone motor and attached a bbshd style planetary to it. We def need to see what those gears look like. It also seems more serviceable than the bbshd, in terms of adding grease.

yes,it has a 95mm rotor and 1:23 gear ratio.So it should have some potential,especially as a 250w motor

Sorry to bump such an old thread. I was wondering if it was worth a buy. What was the max speed / torque / wattage you got? I kind of wanted to buy two and see how many watts I could put through it before failure. 3.4. Or 5 kw.

Very interesting mid motor.

But is it possible to replace its controller by a waterproof version ?

Does the motor use a pedal rotation detector? (Torque sensor or PAS)
Or does it only work like an electric scooter? (Independent of the pedaling)
