All I'm seeing around is people happily unboxing their purchase. Where are they now? Are they still happy after 10k? I don't understand why people buy Bafang or any other more expensive motors. I believe there is a reason and I don't know it.

MXUS tends to sell totally average quality motors that don't excel in efficiency or weight.. they don't make anything awe inspiring but they do offer good value for the dollar.

I think volume is a big component reflected in the low price. The 9C direct drive motors seem to be their bread and butter, and since the design hasn't changed, they can just stamp them out for sale under their name, for sale rebranded by others, and OEM business. Their average efficiency is good enough for most applications. When you spend more, you're buying small but sometimes significant advancements in design and efficiency, which informed buyers tend to appreciate and are willing to spend the money on.
I'm not sure their geared motors are a big bargain compared to Bafang, but more affordable than something like a Mac

I'm not familiar enough with the Bafang motors to identify them by sight, and the listing doesn't seem to provide enough clues, since it looks like they are selling a few model. The customer pic with the scan code comes up as the G70, but I don't think that the 250W front hub that came up using your link is a G70.

The MXUS rep tells me the XF40 1000w hub has aluminum threads for the freewheel.
Is that average or below average? I would say below average considering the aluminum thread vs. steel thread issue has been known for at least 14 years now. Even the Suringmax 1500w hub found on the thread below has steel threads for freewheel:

I've taken many of them apart over the years, seen many dynos ( all product seem to be blah, efficiency wise, compared to their competition ), never impressed with winding flatness or amount of copper.. or other less critical aspects of build quality.

Can anyone tell me if Bafang has a standard wheel size equivalent of the G062, similar to the 1000w geared MXUS? Thanks to this thread maybe I will avoid MXUS. A lot cheaper than GMAC or Leafbike, can anyone recommend a similar motor from Bafang or elsewhere closer to the MXUS price point in a standard wheel size?Sorry, I have no idea what "it" is.

RM G0900.750.DC - 750W at 48V
My guess is that the second motor can also run 1000W at 52V.

Thank you! This looks like the one to get. If there was a geared version for normal dropout spacing that would be better but this looks good. Do you know a good place I can get one laced into a wheel? Can’t see one from a look on ali. I imagine you can hot Rod them to get more speed and power (as in run more amps than nominal rating)

The first of these, the H550 appears to be for a fat tire bike
The second one, the H640, it’s not clear if it is a geared hub? Can anyone clarify? The info online doesn’t say anywhere! Basically a 2kw capable geared hub would tick the boxes for me - maybe I should also check out MAC

Oh, that would be perfect then, but it doesn’t appear Bafang makes them any more. I can’t find it in their catalogue and it’s sold out on the site unfortunately, and I can’t find it for sale available anywhere else. I guess the second motor would be a bit less powerful/ capable of handling higher power. The options seem to be Between the MXUS XF19 and the Bafang H640, but can’t find the Bafang laced into a wheel. The MXUS looks pretty good apart from the reports on this thread that MXUS quality isn’t great

Standard mountain bike dropout is 135mm . A lot of times you can use a five-speed Free Will and it fits you can use a 7 speed free will you would need 142mm in the rear. They now have cassette compatible motors not knowing the different widths to accommodate the wider 8 9 and 10 speed cassettes.
What is your donor bike that you're going to put this motor into how fast do you want to go and how many hills do you have ? What voltage ? What controller ? What and where you're going to put the battery ?

I had a weird experience with MXUS on Alibaba where they have all of these whole bike kits listed at amazing prices and I went so far as talking to a rep for hours and paying for two of them, only to have the rep then go “oh there is a mistake and you only paid for motors”, by which time I have like 5 different screenshots showing the verbiage clearly indicating “kits”.
It was basically going to double the price to play along with the game and it would still have been really cheap but I wasn’t having it on principle since they had about 100 other listings at the same price scale. They’re supposedly considered in the top 3-5 motors with Bafang, Shengyi and others I can’t recall, so it seemed mighty peculiar they’d be using this bait and switch tactic through their direct purchase interface.
For some really cheap motors with no real reputation I have a couple of Wuxing Star Union 500w motors coming that were $45 each(?!!). It’ll be interesting to see what those are like. If nothing else it looks like they use the same shell as many other better brand motors which would be useful to me to be able to build wheels and ship them to people minus the core, in an instance where they have a compatible core to pop into it.
Maybe try to buy a buy a MXUS on Alibaba through one of the listings that has a shopping cart and a minimum order of one or two and the shipping is already figured by Ali Logistics to not be totally insane or take 8 weeks. I’ve had pretty good luck so far dodging obviously sketchy traps and actually getting my stuff without waiting too long.
That is a common tactic with many sellers; it's a good reason to go thru one of the conglomerate sites that offers buyer protection, and then screenshot the ad page and save both the screenshot and the live page to your machine, so you can provide that to the conglomerate for whatever compensation you can get when the seller screws you over.
Dealing direct might seem cheaper...but only if everything works out.
Also finding the *actual* manufacturer / seller of a product can be difficult to be sure of: QSmotors has a number of real channels they go thru, but there are even more of them that are not actually QS, but *look* even more official than QS's own pages, and fool a lot of people. :/
MXUS is probably the most-cloned motor company out there, and as poor quality as their stuff can be, the clones are usually even worse. But because they are cloned, there are probably plenty of places that are also claiming to actually *be* MXUS selling direct or whatever, too, just like QS and likely every other one out there.
(I wont' even get into the cell and battery problems)

I don’t know, the presence of this operation on Alibaba is so big and in your face it sure seems like it’s legitimately MXUS itself. I was wary right from the beginning with the crazy prices but I’ll usually humor people for a while and see where it goes.
This was one of those things that was all guaranteed and protected so that’s the only reason I was like f it and took a chance on just ordering the stuff but I got a refund in about 30 seconds once things went south and I showed the saleswoman all the screenshots I already had that completely negated her BS story.
I’ve had a few other attempts at stuff like this but they’re always so transparent and ham fisted it’s ridiculous.
Oh the other end of the scale I’ve had some surprisingly good luck having a few things made in short trial runs, I already got one thing that vastly exceeded expectations. I’m legitimately blown away. I’m just waiting for the holiday festival to conclude and I should be seeing a couple more things getting underway. I’ll tell you more about that on another thread where it won’t be a massive off topic tangent.

I would think if they’re putting up offerings that are subject to the scrutiny of the platform’s guarantees and protections they must be having transactions that proceed to fulfillment most of tne time, however they get to a final price.

I bought my MXus x40 for $100 on Craigslist used, just the rear wheel 1000w 26" , I didn't know how to build an ebike, it took a year of trial and error, but self taught brushless controller. Anyhow yeah I have been sent incorrect items from China about 40% of the time, mainly Brushed controllers when I paid for brushless, definitely there is ZERO RESPECT when dealing with China Dealers in most cases.
