5 pin display can i connect a keyed switch?

Hi i have a 5 pin display and wanted to know if i could add a key switch to it so it wont turn on without the key , it also it has a failed light control and the halo light stays on so i wanted to know if the switch would shut off the halo light also thanks for any help

Its very common for pin #1 (red wire?) connecting to an ebike lcd display to carry the full +battery voltage, something easily confirmed with a meter.

Interrupting this with a switch would provide the on off control you require

Halo light? blown lighting control can frequently occur when additional or replacement lamps draw more current than the switching can handle,, and can have unforeseen side effects due to the violent explosion/failure of components that can result due to excessive load demands.

If said 'halo light' draws power from the display unit, cutting off the battery +voltage to the display should cut off its supply, Or if however due to ???? in the controller box feeding a parasitic draw, I dunno?

Someone recently had the same issue and replaced the display to fix it.

wires touched while i was testing the light circuit and caused the display failure . I decided to leave the lights stock and wanted to see if i could just add a keyed switch to give me some theft protection and shut the helo off as well thanks for the help

Its fairly common for some control systems to be operated headless or without a display if fitted with a throttle control, the ebike on/off switch/control is generally between pins #1 and #2 (red? blue?) , Tho not all !! - So attempt at your own risk. or at least google for your controller pinout to confirm..

Not a useful solution if using pas level control as it generally defaults to pas level0 or 1 without the display coms active.

I still want to use the display to control everything, just want to control with a keyed switch for theft and shut off halo light
