HELP!! Need help with generic VOTOL type controller..

Need help with generic VOTOL type controller..

Bike has..
72 volt 35Ah battery
generic 3000w motor

The problem is the display reads kph instead of mph..
Also, max speed I get is 32mph..
It should do at least 45mph..
How can I fix this??
Here's what I have so far..

For the speed issue, I’d make sure the 3 speed switch is set to high/3. Also, the Low speed connection could be a speed limiter, so try in both positions. The other issues are display settings related. There is no back and forth communications between the display and controller, since the controller doesn’t support a display in the traditional sense where you adjust controller setting via the display. Why should it “do at least 45mph” ?
Looks like the display is giving you high 5’s lol.
 
It's not the 3 speed switch, always on 3rd gear..

all 72 volt 3000w motors I've had will do 45-50mph..

That’s a function of motor winding, not rated power. My 1500w motor exceeds 50mph. Are you measuring using gps?
 
I am using gps..
display is reading kph, it's showing 48-50
gps is showing 32-34 mph
display is supposed to show mph not kph..

So with the unloaded speed at 73kph, and in the example below, the loaded speed, assuming an upright seating position is 54.8kph. To arrive at the unloaded speed you mentioned, the motor Kv (related to the motor winding) is 7.97 on a 26" wheel. For the unloaded speed, both the wind and rolling resistance is set to zero.

With the same example, simply changing the units to mph, gives the following. An unloaded speed of 45.6mph, and loaded speed of 34.2mph. So 73kph on the display, no load, translates to roughly 34.2 mph loaded. Depending on things like race vs mtb vs fat tires, or larger or smaller rider for wind resistance can account for some differences, but one conclusion could be that you may have a slower wind hub motor, and the display is fairly accurate if you can set the units to mph. It's hard to see in the pic, but are your tires on the fatter side (more that 2.5") ? That would account for the difference between 34.3mph and your 32mph.

With more information about your bike, like actual outside tire diameter, plus skinny, fat or normal width, rider size and weight, you could fine tune to make the modeling more accurate.

I wouldn't count on it. Does the display have any buttons and are there any markings/model numbers, or other info?

The display looks similar to others that are used on scooters which serve as a dashboard, providing status information and only receiving one way communication from the controller (although there are some that may control lights, separately). The information is then displayed, although some functions like battery level or speed will require adding a scaler. For example, the speedo, is just receiving a pulse signal from the hall sensors (via the controller), and that's simply scaled by a frequency value (the number would represent the variables like wheel circumference, etc.), representing a speed in mph or kph. Same with voltage and how it's represented for battery level.

A similar dashboard display would be the
CT-22 (but it has buttons on the display itself, while others have a separate button pad).
