To continue the discussion I opened in “troubleshooting” , the discussion kinda went off topic and i felt I needed to reword my latest problem.
Here’s what I got : Leafbike 1500watt hub motor kit, generic 40 amp sine wave controller, s830 display, EM3ev 52v 20ah battery.
The controller and display that came with the kit are very lacking in actually making the bike fun to ride, because of the ferocious takeoff, I mean it will shoot out from underneath you even in PAS 1. PAS 1 takes you all the way up to 28 mph, and there’s a very small difference in all the levels, PAS 5 will do about 38. But the main issue is, the amp limiting and speed limiting are completely ignored by the controller, I definitely want to tame it down somewhat, maybe top speed of 25 mph and max amps 20. Just kinda optimize it for range. (I have a tendency to overbuild/over spec my stuff then tone it down to avoid maxing it out)
To summarize: I’m looking for a controller/display combo that is customizable to what I want. I will not shell out for a phaserunner and cycle analyst, because I know there’s cheaper options that would do the job.
I’ve been considering KT controller but I don’t know where to buy one that I know isn’t just a generic piece of garbage like came with my LeafBike kit.

Nobody likes the design, but it works well. You can hide it in a bag and put a switch on your handlebars to control the PAS levels. Grin has the Superharnes with modern displays now, but you would need a Baserunner or Phaserunner to use that.

In my search I also came across UART no. 2 protocol controllers/displays. Is there anything wrong with the following?
