Thumb Throttle Failure

I've been running a barfang mid-drive BBS02B for at least 6 years now, moved to a 48v 28.8Ah battery at least 2 years ago now. However, recently I've been going through Thumb Throttles. I've tried changing the setting but keeps happening. More recently I swapped out the C961 display/dash for a C500. My question is, what's the chances of this C500 being faulty & causing the problem with the thumb throttle?

The standard ebike throttle uses a hall sensor powered by +5VDC; it would fail if you suppled more than 5V (or whatever the hall sensor is rated for). Check your wiring; specifically; the pins that connect to the throttle. Make sure it's supplying +5V or less.

Thnx for the info PWD, I'll check power output, however, as I've not changed the controller in the mid-drive, I'm assuming that it wouldn't have changes, unless that's developed a fault. Regards

These are my latest controller setting. Throttle lasts for a few days to a few weeks, before packing up. I've tried everything bar a twist throttle so far, buying from reputable stores & e-bay. I have seen posts where people suggest just changing the display has caused faults however, I'm reluctant to believe this, as the cabling is to to controller on the motor unit. Am I seriously overlooking a setting, or is it more likely that my controller is causing a problem, it is 6+ years old?

Just to confirm, your display is the 500C (bafang), and not the C500 (Lishui), and the problem didn't happen before swapping out the display, correct? When the throttle fails, does the display throw out an error code?

No, but fault didn't necessarily start as soon as it was installed. error code is 04 H. Thank you to everyone for hints & suggestions. It's helping me fault find.

Error 04 is "Throttle not returned to home" or something like that. Throttle signal voltage is higher than the normal level. A bad ground wire connection between the throttle and controller could cause this. There are at least two spots where there are connectors in this line. These can get damaged or corroded.

Another possibility is the throttles are just crap and break somewhere like the magnet comes unglued. If you release the throttle by letting it snap back hard, things can break. Try taking apart one of the ones that isn't working and look for a broken wire or loose magnet.
