Throttle signal is higher than the supply

My turn to have a controller problem. 48 volt 40 amp crystalyte controller. When I opened the case, I could not see any blackened components and there was no Magic Smoke smell. On power up the external LED comes on and the on board status LED gives me 8 blinks - no throttle signal. Throttle Red...

ZombieSS's Official Greyborg Warp build thread LOTS OF PICs

Awesome looking build. Regarding the fitting of the freewheel, Is there a spacer washer between the freewheel and the hub? Or just between the axle end and the swingarm?

    * * * The 1000 Mile Club * * *

I did 1677 miles on one bike – Merlin - one summer back in the mid-late 90s when I lived in Quebec City. I had a first gen KillAWatt and kept logbooks of voltages at start and end of ride, miles covered, etc. Cost $2.48 for the electricity for those miles. I kept that bike for 3 more years...

    hit by a skateboarder

A few years ago I saw a skateboarder try to zip between some parked vehicles. He went from a hard surface to soft mushy one and the board just stopped. Result was a face plant into the side of a truck - 30 vehicles there and he plants into MY truck. I could only watch from where I was but he got...

OK, Let us see how far back DIY electric bicycles go. Here is where you can post those dusty old snapshots and the older the better. Do you have any specifics - voltage, motor source, Battery type.... This one goes back to 1995 http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51164 Two...

My first eBike build: DH 2WD in China

Here is a site called the Electric Bike Graveyard - these are production bikes not DIY stuff from Popular Mechanics. http://www.electricbike.com/ebike-graveyard/ And yes, I will start a new thread for this.

My first eBike build: DH 2WD in China

Back then, some ebikes used flooded automobile or golf cart batteries. Imagine two 20 kg flooded batteries strapped to your bike with 4-9 litres of Sulfuric acid sloshing around. This might take you 12 miles at 15 mph. Some used Gelled acid batteries, a few had these new AGM type SLAs, a very...

LiPo battery voltage in a hot environment

A question for the battery gurus. I typically charge and store my RC LiPo in a cool area about 20-23*C (68-74*F) and then move the pack out to the bike when ready to ride. I charge to 4.1 volts per cell. How much will cell voltage rise if it sits 3-4 hours in the heat 40*C or more (105*F+)...

My first eBike build: DH 2WD in China

Awesome build. Makes my first ebike look like sh*t. Looked so bad no pix survive. In my defense, brushless hub motors and LiPo were not available 20 years ago. Is it possible to change the axle? Maybe have one machined in 4340? Torque arms on both sides.

    LiPo pack dented corner

It's now about 56 hours since it dropped. Voltages are still the same - no change. When compressing the pack with woodworking clamps before wrapping with filament tape, how much pressure should I use?

    LiPo pack dented corner

OK, I'll run a couple of charge discharge cycles out in the back yard just to see before beginning dissection. Cell voltages are still stable - no change from last night. Shrink wrap removal and building a solid pack is in the near future. Thanks.

    LiPo pack dented corner

    32 hours after the fall the cell voltages are: cell 1 4.097 cell 2 4.107 cell 3 4.101 cell 4 4.100 cell 5 4.094 cell 6 4.100 -- measured several times - sometimes I get 4.103 I think the damaged cell is number 6.

    LiPo pack dented corner

So, I've been using these Turnigy Nano tech 6s 8.0 Ah packs in a 18s pack for almost year now. On the bike, they are in a steel Hammo can from the army navy store with 3/8 inch+ foam padding all around. For charging I remove them and charge separately with a RC balance charger and then put them...

Is there a downside to modifying an axle

Just curious, Would there be any downside to modifying a 150 mm axle to fit 135 mm dropouts? Understood that you would need to run a single speed free wheel instead of a cassette.

Difference between "regular" SLA's and those "DZM" SLA's

I remember reading that Hawker Cyclon cells were used in satellites. SLA AGM cells with a cylindrical form and metal case. If they can survive rocket launch G forces and vibration, then they could survive an e bike.

    Nephew's 1st ebike

No injuries reported. Frame is surprisingly strong. Hubs were checked and serviced but only took nephew 4 weeks to completely wear them out. And yet another wheel before end of the summer. I`ve used this torquey little motor in several builds before brush less motors became more common.
