A dumb idea that just might work against cagers

If you put a life-size version of a Cabbage Patch doll in the trailer, the following drivers will immediately think, "Gee, what an ugly kid" and be so fixated by it, they'll run into the back of you.

    Your Favorite Ebike Tire

Fat Frank on the rear, tubeless diy. Some piece of cheap crap on the front, but it came with the electric wheel, so I'm wearing it out on principle.

    Bosch 36V fatpacks opened up

Anyone found their Bosch charger gets a bit hot if charging six FPs? I wonder if there's a weakness in these chargers, for I see quite a few busted ones for sale on the 'bay - perhaps they overheat. I was thinking of getting another type, like this one...

Kit for this Kiddy carrier reverse trike

Ach, they already do a motorised version, a snip at 4,500 pounds sterling. No wonder she's keen to see if it can be done cheaper.

Belt drive Sprockets on the Cheap!

Regarding using belt drive on ebikes... Seems to me the very cheapest option for belt drive pulleys is off the front of modern car engines. Thousands and thousands of them are in breakers' yards and it won't take much to find suitable sizes that can be used on a bike drive system. There are...

diy tubeless tires for ebike anyone?

I've been running a Fat Frank on a ghetto tubeless setup for the past 10 months and not had any problems at all. Not exactly huge mileage on it, but I'm happy enough with it. I always carry a spare tube in case I can't fix the flat, but not needed to yet. My mix was similar to yours - hobby...

How much do you spend on batteries?

I'm using 6 Bosch Fatpacks, at a cost of €65 each, used but nearly new. I'm still figuring out what lifetime to expect from them, but it's all looking good so far. I could have gone lipo, but figured the Bosch option was safer and much more worry-free. Charging is a doddle, more or less fit and...

    Motor Noise Normal?

My Conhis 750W makes a noise like an old tramcar at 19mph, but it vanishes at 20. Solution - stay above 20 :)

So, I pitched the idea of E-bikes to the local bicycle cops

I wouldn't worry - it's obviously a discarded Farscape script they rejected for being too far out.

Show Us Your Homemade Battery Housing

I've just finished a crude but effective battery housing, made from planed timber and plywood. There are four Bosch Fatpacks in there at the moment, with space for another two, and the controller is in the rear bag. A bit of paint and it'll be good to go.

European Commission Says No to 500 Watt Max. Power for Pedal

These 'rules' are drawn up by twats in offices whose only exercise is polishing the chairs with their arses. I'd not be at all surprised if there's back-office brown envelopes changing hands stuffed full of €, from the car companies.

Front Suspension: R&R for older bikes possible?

I picked up an old but refurbed set of Marz Bomber M3 forks and fitted them to my 20yr old Claud Butler. Luckily for me the forks came with a choice of steer tubes and there was a 1" tube that perfectly suited my frame. I don't know about later Bombers, but the M3 steer tube is simply clamped in...
