Newb question: Attempted to connect inverter to battery resulted in bright spark and some melted ring connector. Why?

I managed to fix the inverter with fuses. Seems I had reversed connected the wires. I also purchased a 25w 30 ohm resistor to charge the capacitors. Even with the resistor there was still a little bit of sparks, but nevertheless I was able to connect the battery to the inverter. Connected a 61w...

Newb question: Attempted to connect inverter to battery resulted in bright spark and some melted ring connector. Why?

The inverter is a 2000w pure sinwave inverter. No clue about its quality (their 24v inverted combined have 106 votes for 3.9 rating average). From amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B074C8Z1M3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The Chinese cells definitely might have been the...

Newb question: Attempted to connect inverter to battery resulted in bright spark and some melted ring connector. Why?

Background: I don’t know much about electricity. I have a 14s5p battery that Id connect to my inverter (rated to handle 40-60w DC). The few times ive used the inverted it has never been an issue (always keeping battery under 58v). My battery would connect using Anderson connectors, id turn on...

Solar Panel to charge a 52v 13.5 ah battery pack?

Is low current an issue when charging these packs? Even if you keep voltage steady, wont a very slow amperage degrade the battery and/or components if it needs to be ran + 7 days for a charge (which during that time the amperage would probably be 0.5c to 0.1c then divide by 5 since its a 5p...

What is this cell (polymeter li-ion with Chinese writing)?

Yea this is the only other thing written on the battery. I did send the seller of these cells on alibaba a message asking if they still sell them.

What is this cell (polymeter li-ion with Chinese writing)?

Wow, thanks, don't know how you found that. That matches my charger (I had assumed they just threw me a random cheap charger.) Short history of my battery: My e-bike would die within a few minutes, so I sent in the battery for repairs (it was under warranty). I got it back, worked fine for...

What is this cell (polymeter li-ion with Chinese writing)?

Bump? Anyone got any idea where to even start looking? I figure worse case scenario I can sort of try to 'rebuild' the battery with only 12 of these in series.... Tho that would mean id need a need BMS and my current charger wouldn't work.

What is this cell (polymeter li-ion with Chinese writing)?

Measurements of the single cell: 5.5", 2.5", and 5/8" For the third time my battery from my ebike has failed me. This time I am out of warranty so I took the battery apart and saw it was 13 unknown Chinese 'cells' in series. All of them showed 4.1v, expect for one showing ~0.4v which seems...

Duty question: Any Canadians order a battery from em3ev?

Thanks, its a good sign, we will see if I get the same luck. I placed my order about a week ago. Not shipped yet tho, it was delayed when they saw I had no charger as part of my order (ordered the satiator from ebikes as the price is about the same + 0 chance of duties issues from a canadian...

Duty question: Any Canadians order a battery from em3ev?

Yea definitely interested to know once it comes in. And even how long it took from time of order to delivery.

Duty question: Any Canadians order a battery from em3ev?

As the title says, any Canadians order from em3ev? From my understanding batteries are category 4... So this would mean you pay 8% duties plus the GST/HST? So someone from Ontario pays 13+8 = 21% higher then listed price, or am I missing something?

Need a 48v battery, have a few questions

Thanks for the reply. Think my latest plan is to get the 52v pack with the Satiator. Will probably setup my main profile to charge to 3.8v*14s=53.2v while also having a 3.9 and 4.0 profile for 54.6v and 56v for a few rare longer trips per year. In theory that should give me lots of power and put...

Need a 48v battery, have a few questions

I have have 500 watt motor (says Shengyi hybrid on it) and some unknown controller. My current pack is dead after storage in the winter (was a 'free' rebuild, I opened it and it looks like they threw in 7 of some sort of polymer batteries). Want to buy a new battery, thinking of a 13S5P Samsung...

    Battery suggestion? (feedback on luna?)

My current battery has been in the 'shop' for about 4 months in Toronto (they put in fake Chinese cells and they failed quickly). Not sure when I am getting it back and I am thinking of buying a spare/backup battery. Current bike uses Anderson connectors. I am thinking of maybe buying this...

Battery charging is less than capacity of battery?

I will test it with the multimeter next time I put in about 10km, but right now (after a full night charge) it's telling me 54.2 volts. I often take the charger off the battery (when the light goes green) instead of leaving it overnight (the charger turns green it still pulls in about 15w of...

Battery charging is less than capacity of battery?

I do not have a cycle analyst. This is a li-on battery that came with the bike. It's one year old, and it used to give me about 35km+ when fully charged. On Saturday it died at 13km (also gave me a low voltage error). There is only 630KM on this battery (probably under 50 charges) and I have...

Battery charging is less than capacity of battery?

I got a 48v battery with 10ah. If I run it dead and charge it with a kill-a-watt it tells me it pulled about 0.25 to 0.31 kwh. Shouldn't a 48v x 10Ah = 0.48 khw capacity? If anything shouldn't the kill-a-watt always show over 0.48 kwh as it takes more energy to charge the battery?

Adding extra security to rear mounted battery

I like the idea of a motion sensor, but the problem with the metal cables ties are the same as my 'idea two', it might add 1-2 minutes extra, but in the end it makes it impossible for me to quickly bring in the battery with me. Hiding it better might be a better idea, but I would never want to...

Adding extra security to rear mounted battery

My ebike has a rear mounted battery, the key (3 pins) makes a metal pin slide down into the battery rack plat to 'lock it' (so you can't slide it out). My worry is someone can either pick/rake the 3 pin lock in seconds, or bend the metal rack enough with a screwdriver (or something) so the...

Is this $1500 cad ebike a good buy?

Yeah, but it's also more work. And im really not sure what bike to buy anyway. It's what I wanted to do for a long time, but I figure buying one is easier for my first ebike. Well, I figure I got the warranty. And worse comes to worse, I should be able to install non hydraulic breaks. I am also...

Is this $1500 cad ebike a good buy?

I am looking at this fat ebike: http://www.daymak.com/pages/classic/wildgoose.php for $1500 CAD locally (no shipping as its a local store, and in theory warranty support locally). Key specs: Motor: 500W Hybrid Pie Brushless Hub Motor Battery: 48V 10AH Lithium, Lithium Ion Polymer, 800...

What do you tihnk of this pre-built bike (1000w)

Honestly, this entire thing is driving me crazy, I am very indecisive about all of this and spent many hours on this. I really want something good, but I do not want to pay more then what I need. And part of this is my high desire to have a real bike (like a 18/21 speed). Right now the bike I...

How to fit a rear rack on my bike

I do not really have any tools/knowledge/patience to make any advance alternations. All my life I have purchased 'cheap' ~$200 full suspension 21 speed mountain bikes. They have worked out really well for me. They tend to last me about two years, and this includes lots of usages, using it in...
