Well guys, it has been real (a little too real) - and I'm bailing. Decided to get myself a proper motorbike (125cc for now) and pursue a motorbike license. I use my bomber like a motorbike anyway, and that's probably not safe. Drivers don't treat you like one, no noise, no brake lights...

Since turning on the 'soft start' that hasn't happened again. I wouldn't regard accidentally pulling too hard on the throttle from a standstill, on day one of riding my bike, as a crash. lol. Am I the only one here who accepts crashing and scrapes as part of the fun and in many ways an...

Thanks man! I'll take a look at that tonight and see if the squeel goes away. Only happens when moving the back wheel backwards slowly, or when the back wheel brakes coming in fairly fast.

Shaved about a CM or two off the pedal when it scraped across the ground. Rather it than my knee to be honest with you. A scuff on the handlebar cap, obviously. Aside from that it's visually fine and there are no signs that anything is damaged in terms of function. It has developed a squeaky...

Totally agree. Unfortunately London doesn't have the road infrastructure, never mind anything else. London is an amalgamation of roads build tightly between buildings that are listed and protected, and were designed to service the horse and cart. It's a nightmare for everyone, not just cyclists...

First close call today on an otherwise smooth run. Some white van woman who I was driving behind (no windows to see out the back.) Stayed back a good stopping distance, but followed her path around a parked bus. She goes for the overtake, then slams on the brakes when she realises that a car is...

The thing is, the biggest lobby for vehicles at the moment here is the pushbike lobby in London, and they're getting their way. On the one hand that's a great thing- a lot of the infrastructure is being handed over to cyclists- huge cycle lanes, superhighways, the lot. (Google...

You don't know the half of it. The EU is completely swamped with committees who pontificate about nonsense regulations. In Britain, it's even worse, as old statutes overlap these. Here is an excerpt from a Wiki entry: In the United Kingdom, e-bikes are classed as standard bicycles providing the...

WATERPROOFING I can only assume the new Stealth bikes are better insulted because there aren't many places the water seems able to get in. The underside has a few holes in it, and I taped some up and put some zip locks on each of the wires to encourage water to fall off. The only place I'm...

What a cow. The MX goggles are a bit flashy, but they do a good job. The way I see it is that you can go out, have fun, wear what you want and deal with the off situations that might occur, or you cam reign it all in and reduce your chances of being stopped, but wear less safe stuff and have...

Quick Q by the way. Is there any way of stopping the cycle analyst from resetting the clock after each charge. Really can't be arsed setting the time every single day.

You know, we talk a fair bit here about not drawing attention from the cops, but I'm curious, how many here have actually been stopped by the cops? What happened? If you haven't, how often do general punters ask about what you're riding? Are they interested or suspicious?

Definitely gonna try avoid riding in bad weather. For anyone out there who is interested by the way, I use an iPhone app called Dark Sky. It's a hyper local weather app that pings you when rain is going to occur. I find it's bang on 9 times out of 10.

I've heard of products very similar to that. People use them to coat their phones and stuff. Mostly the feedback I've heard is that over a short time it starts to discolour and go tacky, then peel off. It's very easy to submerge something and say "look it's still dry after a million years."...
