2008 Ezip Trails Mountain Bike - Review

Errrr... uhhhh... so this "filter wrap" is something you will cover your Currie motor with to prevent moisture and debris from getting into the motor after holes are drilled into the cover? Am I tracking with you?

You got it! I want to make sure the motor doesn't have any issue when I am 15 miles from home. Peddling back myself would not be fun!

I like the filter idea to cover the holes, but I gotta ask :) Does it lower the noise level???? Sorry

Update:

Got my brand new filter today. It looked kinda small but it fit like a glove! I was a little worried about the way it would fit on the back of the motor but it fit perfectly. It is a very tight fit so I don't even need to use anything to hold it on. Below are the pictures.

*** Two day test results ***

Bike 2008 Ezip trailz mountain bike
36v 10ah lifePO4 battery pack

Tested twice over two days in hot weather to get a base line and averages
Day 1 94 degrees, Day 2 92 degrees
Total distance 12.98 miles
No peddling at all not even on starts

I went looking, but could not find your weight. It would help to know that in judging your results.

I'm 230 and it has had a HUGE BIG FAT impact on my mileage.

Lets just say the rider that tested this weighs 186 pounds.

The K&N Air Filter Wrap is also good for covering controllers mounted in the open. And still having good airflow

Not yet. I keep putting it off but I really need to before the motor gets damaged. Since these are brushed motors they get really hot especially in the front. I will be modifing it in the next few days and will post some pictures. TD did a really good article on how to do the modification which I will follow. I am only going to drill holes in the front near the brushes since that seems to be the only place that needs it.

Dont forget the hot air needs a larger escape route than inlet! It do expand :)

Added the holes.

Here is a video on how to do it.

Thanks to everybody who helped by posting directions.

"Sound of the motor, awsome" Not to me!!!!! Is it louder than before or did U change resonant frequencies with the holes and the sock?????

Looks good. Could you tell me what the seat tube length is and the stand over height is? I assume there is no choice on frame size or color.

Just got one. Plan on making mechanical mods. A friend at http://www.motoredbikes.com suggested this forum for electrical mods, so I joined. I didn't where you say hi here, so um HI!

Its got got about 1000 miles on it now. Some minor trouble, Currie didnt understand my problem and sent me a 2nd motor when the 1st one is fine. Long story. It still in basically stock form. I have parts and plans for mech mods. I just bought a house so been busy with that.

Are you going to keep the second motor? I only ask because someone on this forum has joined two of those motors to drive one bike. If memory serves it was very successful at running the motors cooler. Do a search for two or dual motors.
Edit: Found it here:

I'm goin in a entirely different direction. Before I got it I was planning on relocating the motor to the front sprocket. Motor on the smallest of the 3 and still be able to shift the other 2. It should do well over 30 mph. Now that I have 2 I've got a switch to well switch the power from one motor to the other. Start off with the stock one then swich to the front one. Also considering a bypass circuit to the stock one with a switch to draw power from whatever battery I'm currenty not using to have some extra umph for hills.
