You can of course. I personally recommend a Bluetooth BMS that you can check on with your phone.

Replace the BMS and the cells and it should be all good.

i think my issue here is simply that my battery is over charged.


I woke up one morning to my charger making funny sounds while still plugged in. that was the day it stopped working.

How can i discharge the battery?

Glad you didn't wake up to a fire. I'd replace the charger too. Good ones can have protection against overcharging.

Why? The BMS is just doing it's job--it shut the pack off to protect you from a potential fire, by not allowing the pack to be used after being overcharged, with potential cell damage.
