I spec'd one out today just for informational purposes and you get a very nicely outfitted bike with a HUGE 5000 watt motor. I'm thinking really hard of giving these guys a shot. The owners are two young guys trying to build their business, and I'd like to help them out. The Frame is basically a beefed up KHS with a lot of really nice components. I dig that Schlumpf drive. My current e-bike runs out of Gear at about 30 mph. :)

From their Website:http://www.hi-powercycles.com/2015-hpc-xc-series-full-suspension-electric-mountain-bike/

The HPC XC ELITE represents the pinnacle of off-road performance. It is the ultimate cross country electric bike available at any price point. This top of the line bike has literally every high end feature we could think of. Every option is standard. The XC Elite defines excellence and is the ultimate expression of luxury quality and craftsmanship. If you are looking for the highest quality and one of the most most prestigous full suspension e-bikes you can buy this is it! The XC ELITE comes standard with a genuine American 1050D Ballistic Nylon battery Frame bag for the utmost in strength and protection. It features a 20 speed SRAM X0 drivtrain with matching shifters and derailleurs a RockShox Pike tapered 150mm travel fork with XLoc Full Sprint a Monarch XX rear air shock Cane Creek 110 series headset and a Schlumpf High Speed Drive planetary geared crankset and bottom bracket for the ultimate in high speed pedaling. The XC Elite's XLoc Full Sprint system allows for a single push button hyrdaulic lockout of both the front air fork and rear air shock at the same time! The Standard Schlumpf High Speed Drive allows for casual pedaling up to 50 mph and even allows you to push the motor a bit faster at high speeds with the pedaling force you generate! It is an incredible feeling to be able to pedal and actually propel the bike with human input power at such high speeds.

* Another exciting feautre for the 2015 model year is the addition of the incredible Schlumpf High Speed Drive! This amazing plantary geared crankset allows you to mulitply your sprocket size by 2.5x! This means you can have a medium 34T sprocket click a button and immediately have the pedal power of an 85T crank. This means you can actually pedal the bike and help the motor along at speeds up to 50 MPH (4000W+ systems). It is truly an astonishing feeling! The Schlumpf High Speed Drive is standard on the HPC XC ELITE.

UPDATE: Pulled the Trigger. :)
Talked to the Chris and Derek on the phone yesterday, and they made me a really nice package deal and let me mix and match some of the components to make this a truly custom made (for me) bike. It's nicer than anything I thought I'd end up with and I'm very excited to get it. I'll be sure to post up some pics when it's here. Should be about two weeks... :)

Hey Ottodog,
That is a really good-looking new ride you picked up for yourself....my favorite color too! Congratulations!
I gotta say, those cats do put a lot of effort in their production build designs, with emphasis on comfortable performance based ergonomics and spec out some decent components on their units.... No "Team Cheap" Wallymart crap there! I completely understand there are a lot of budget minded builders in this community and why, all good..... but then there's us 1%'ers, who know if you wanna go trophy fast, you're gonna shell out some cash! The ergonomics and details on the HPC Revolution look very impressive too, among that new style of frames..... although, like you chose, I would not ride any of the frames/bikes designed around a square metal box full of batteries (maybe the carbon fiber one wouldn't be as harsh a ride as ... meh), give me a tubular chassis designed around ME for performance first, then figure the best place to "HANG" the batts off it! If the designers of all the new e-bike box-style frames offered now only understood the concept of "noise" in chassis design..... and I don't mean sound!!! Don't they watch any kind of racin'....you'll never see a square chassis!!! Well, that's a subject for another thread.... Good choice of weapon though! Good luck with it, Otto! Be Safe too.... don't hurt yourself with all that power now.... :) Oh, BTW what motor option did you choose? Is it the HPC Clyte H40110?

Cheers,
SDog
And tell Chris I said, "Yo"

Thanks for starting this thread. Although the majority of posters here seem to prefer adding a kit to a bike, nobody needs to apologize for choosing a turn-key bike from a vendor. I look forward to hearing more about the details of riding and owning these.

Exactly. I may know all the little vendors I like, and how to put it all together, but when a friend wants help with a simple turn-key bike, I just go... "uhhh.....umm... I dont know."
Not only do I have ZERO experience with turn-key bikes, but I have read no reviews from people that actually mess with them like we do on here.

post up a good review. and take lots of pics!

Thanks spinningmagnets. I appreciate the welcome.I have a kit bike too (500 Watt, 36V) that I put on my old Bianchi Hybrid and that kind of lit the fire under me for something more powerful. Started looking into a new or used full suspension donor bikes and super high power kits and ran across the HPC site. They use KHS full suspension frames (nice open triangle, even with the rear shock) and Crystallite motors which is kind of the combo I was going for anyway.

The owners, Derek and Chris are really nice guys. Very responsive to my questions and were willing to customize my build exactly the way I wanted it. For instance, I didn't need the full XC-3 pkg, the XC-2 was more than enough, but I did want that Schlumpf high speed drive. So they kind of let me mix and match components so I got exactly what I wanted.

There are so many choices out there. Just finding the right Donor bike with full suspension was a daunting task. I'll admit, I got a bit overwhelmed and quickly envisioned my whole summer passing me by while I dick around trying to figure it all out. I liked the KHS frame they use and it's pretty hard to fault Crystallite, so what the hell, YOLO, I went for it. :D

Thanks man. I'm so stoked about this. First thing I thought of when I woke this morning. I appreciate the kind words for HPC. They are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and I hope they continue to do well. The Revolution IS a pretty sweet bike, and it's only about 80 pounds. Not my cup of tea, but apparently they are selling them out as fast as they can build them.

They use an upgraded Crystalyte motor similar to the one in the Stealth Bomber, and they have other little electronic niceties that I probably wouldn't have thought of. I mentioned I was a little worried about my teenagers riding it, and they are going to put a 3 position switch on my bike that will instantly put it into "street legal" mode, middle power mode, or Competition mode, which will be nice for when I let the rookies ride it. ;)

UPDATE: Saw one of their videos last night with a Cruise Control setup. I must have that... :D

UPDATE: The guys at HPC were kind enough to send me an "in progress" pic of my bike. Decided to change the tires back to Kenda Slant Six's though. The Hooks just didn't seem like they'd have enough bite in the dirt. Should be done in a day or two. :)

I have those hookworms. On a thin rim like that, with such a big tire, they are a bit wobbly in high speed turns.

I really thought they'd be okay, but I went out to where I ride yesterday and the terrain was a little deeper than I remembered it being last summer. The Kenda's are supposed to be a pretty decent mix of hard pack and loose over hard pack which should work well there and still have reasonably low rolling resistance on the street. Hopefully... This will be my first set of Kendas. 8)

We've been waiting for Tektro adapters for about a week now. Talked to Chris yesterday, and they have Magura Dual Caliper Brakes in stock so we are going to upgrade to a set of MT-5s which they can mount today. So great customer service there. These are significantly more expensive than the Dorados. :)

Here's my HPC bike I took a 2003 intense tracer mod the frame very easy has HPC geared hub motor and 40amp speed controller with a HPC 52v battery, And HPC,s 62v and I think there 72v battery all will fit also. The battery placement was optima for handling chose your component's forks, brakes, wheels, hub,s and with me a HPC fast charger.

UPDATE: My HPC bike showed up in a big box a couple of weeks ago and I've put about 100 miles on it already. Great bike with lots of nice features and insane power. Really a lot of fun.

Looking more like an e-bike now...

It's got 3 modes. 1= Street Legal (750 watts, 20 mph), 2 = 60% Power (conserves battery and will do about 30 - 35 mph), 3 = Full on Insanity Mode (5000 watts, 45 - 50 mph). The Range is about 3 miles to an Amp Hour (the way I ride), so with a 13 Amp Hour Battery, I can get about 36 miles.

Also found out rather quickly that there is no kickstand on Earth that will fit it. So went for "The UpStand" ( http://upstandingbicycle.com ) which is a removable version. Quite an elegant solution. When not in use it fits in my seat bag.

Overall, I love it. We have land I can ride it on, and plenty of off roading areas I can ride it on. In Street Legal mode it can be ridden to the Gym, Starbucks, Bike Paths, etc. Overall, a really fun, big boy toy. I have already put almost 100 miles on it.

36 mi ?? wow that's really good I run a 52v 12.5 ah HPC battery 15 trail and 22 street about the best so far umm I wonder if the schlumpf drive helps?? I am considering one of those for my bike , I think I need a lot less gears seems I only use the top 2 .

I get that if I ride it somewhat sanely and keep it around 30 - 35 mph. At 45-50 mph I get closer to 2 miles per Ah or about the same as you at 26 miles. Top speed can really be a factor. 50 mph just eats the battery on mine.

Hey Ottodog, congrats on a really nice bike!
Thanks for posting the hipowered cycles vids- just watched the 40minute one, saw their builds, batteries, and learned what a schlumph drive is. I think you picked an excellent seller, those guys got some cool stuff goin on, and their batteries are something I didn't realize were available. I'd love to know how to do the 3way switch they refer to.

Anyway, enjoy!

Thanks man. I really like yours too. Been watching some of your videos as well. The Schlumpf is probably my favorite new thing that actually lived up to the hype. You really can keep pedaling for as fast as you care to go. It's a lot of fun. As for the switch, I think it's a nice feature on high powered bikes like ours. I usually switch it down to 60% when I'm taking off from a stop. Helps keep the front wheel on the ground, if you know what I mean. ;)
