Howdy,
I have a GEM controller for a sepex motor. With the case off, it looks like it may be easy to separate the power section from the processor. Can anyone tell me if the power section can be run with another processor?
Thank you,
Xtian

The parts do not say. It was built in Puerto Rico. It is a GEN2. One sticker has a G.E. proceding a part number.

Bet its a GE. I have one but its completely different.

I guess you COULD use a uC to control it, but you'll have to make sure the gate driver and all the timing for the components match correctly.

Wow, that looks pretty beefy. Yes, I think you could drive it with just about anything as long as the gate drive is adequate. Interfacing a current limiter could be another issue. I'm not sure how they monitor the current on something like that (maybe they don't).

field control not needed: serial motor. maybe a rheostat for field weakening. just need a PWM to the mosfets. Will use orig F/W contactor for reverse and Series/Parallel contactor for turbo. right now looking for easy to understand throttle/PWM unit. still open to suggestions.
thank you,
Xtian
