hey, I have a Golden motor 800w. Was wondering if there is anything in the way that I can use a 1000w Check for it?

You can use any brushless controller you want. Just don't put more than about 3000W into it for any length of time.

Golden motor's ratings are strange. Likely your motor is from a kit that included a 36 volt, 22A controller, meaning it had a peak of 796 watts. basicly, an 800 watt peak Kit.

They have made many different motors over the years, and Most of them can take far more power than that. Most are fine up to 1500W, and could probably handle more.

You didn't say which version of motor you have, so I don't want to say yes, But very probably yes.

Just be sure your battery is up to the task.

I've not found anything strange about the 3 GM hub motors I've used. Two were 500W and one was 1000W. But I've never heard of an 800W GM motor. And afaik, there's no 800W motor listed on their website, just 500, 750 and 1000W (other than the MP3). More likely, something a vendor has put on a kit based on controller rating.

1500w is likely to be no problem for an unmodified direct drive motor of any type. To push to 3000w, shorter rides are required and monitoring temp adivised. Generally skinny power wires need replacement to pull 3000w continuous. For brief 3000w runs, some just replace the wire from outside the axle to the controller.

1000w continuous, which generally means 48v 20 amp controller, is no problem at all for a dd motor. You'll get 1200w for a few seconds, then it will drop to 800-1000w cruising at full throttle.
