Abretech Limited is a green battery technology R&D company based in Palmerston North, a green city in New Zealand.

R&D at Abretech started from a special battery Recycle project: rechargeable Ni-Cd and Ni-MH battery reactivation. In June 2008, Abretech received funding from New Zealand government-Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST). In September 2008, Abretech battery reactivation technology was granted Provisional Patent (New Zealand).

Abretech innovative battery Recycle technology allows reactivating and Reusing a large percentage of dead Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rechargeable batteries including hybrid car battery, giving them a new life. A further development led to another project: Reuse reactivated Ni-MH batteries.

Abretech Green Electric Bike is the first product from R&D at Abretech. It is a specially designed and made converted electric bike, a perfect product for Reusing reactivated Ni-MH batteries. It also provides a unique alternative for bicycle Recycle: Abretech can use recycled bike frames and parts to make Abretech Green Electric Bike, Reducing land fill of dead batteries and bicycles.
