Anyone know of a 125VDC Charger?

I just recently got into LiPo and I'm very happy with it except for the charging aspect. I run 30s2p which yields 111VDC nominal and 125VDC at full charge. It is extremely time-consuming to take apart the packs for a balance charge on my iCharger 3010b every time I want to charge the bike. I'd prefer to balance charge monthly and bulk charge on a daily basis using a 125VDC charger.

Does anyone know where I can buy one?

Or can I make one from some Meanwells in series with the current modification?

Any good idea is welcome.
 
I would like this information as well.. I'm about to pull the trigger on 10 6s Lipo packs and still haven't quite grasped the charging theory.

Ecity is selling 600W, 900W, 1500W and 2000W good cheap charger set at the voltage anf current you desire. I bought couples and i'm satisfied with.

Otherwise if you can charge from a 12V car system, using an AC inverter work too ( it have 122V dc power supply inside that you can connect to it direct accros the 200V caps) It's like ising an inverter but connecting your stuff right before the AC conversion... so you have 12V to 122V dc... right before the H bridge mosfet section

you can find some cheap 1000 or 2000W inverter on ebay and use them for that.

A bunch of series Meanwells that can be modded for CC does the job dandy. 5 24V Meanwell SP-500-24's would be my candidates. The array would be rated for 2,500W charging, back it down to 1500W or so to play nice with 15A breakers.

or to stay close to your Lipo while charging...

I'm using 2kW power charging solution and it'sworking nice on my 30s 3p lipo

25amps max until the batteries reach the target voltage.
 
As suggested above Meanwells in series.

Or, if you want to save money, server supplies to get close, then meanwells to finish the stack.
 
Don't care about money. I just want a PS or a Charger that I can plug into a 120VAC outlet and have 125 volts DC able to charge my LiPo batteries without burning up the PS or the Charger.

If you just want the best, and have money, get a sorensen or xantrax supply.

You're going to pay about a grand, but you will end up with charging perfection for any pack.

I use a 18kw sorensen power supply setup at work. Its just a dream, I can charge my cell phone battery on it, all the way up to our TTXGP bikes.

Once you go to a real commercial power supply, you are spoiled for life, and will be so happy you just bit the bullet and bought one.
 
This guy will probably take $300 for 5 of these shipped. You can get them cheaper if you dig, I got a few at $40-45 each.

You would need to put a multi-turn 5K pot on the SVR2 pad of at least one, probably just do them all to ensure there is ample compliance for a pack at low SOC. It would be a good idea to swap out the 1K trimmer on SVR1 with a multi-turn one as well, to ensure the voltage is dead on. Run the outputs in series, hold it together with some tape, and set the SVR2 to your desired charge power. It will be good for up to 20A @ 130V.

Not very hard to do as long as you can handle basic soldering and have the means to measure voltage and current.

That Sorenson 160 - 62T will get the job done in class, but it requires 3 phase. At least the Meanwell rig can be tuned down to run off a standard outlet should need be.

They do sell "samples", I would advice you to go for 220v with thoses big chargers.
 
Clarification: When I said that I Don't care about the money, I did not intend to imply that money was no object. I'd rather not pay $1,200 on a charger.

Also, I do not have 3-phase available to me. My preference would be 120VAC input, but I do have a 240VAC welding receptacle available on a 50amp circuit. But the charging time is not of great importance to me. A 3 hour charge time would be sufficient.

So, back to my original wish: A 120VAC input charger with a 125VDC output (around 1000watts or so) that would not burn up while charging and then go to zero amps (no trickle charge) when 125VDC is reached.

I've not tried that particular model, but the smaller $200 isn't listed at 120v, I often sell these with LiPo kits. It might be worth asking if they can make one for you in that voltage range..

Another option that I have experience with, is DeltaQ.... their 96V model can be programmed to a certain voltage (I've got a few algorithms).

I like them, nice, sealed 1kw chargers, although they're a little spendy. It's what I use on my motorcycle.

BTW... hair dryer are some of the cheapest soluti for high power bleeding device!! it cost like 7$ when on sale and is like a big 8 ohm 1825W air cooled resistor!!!

Luke has a severe PSU addiction. There's about 50% odds that if you catch him using a computer, he's looking at sorensons on ebay. He has more supplies than he has places to plug them in or things to charge with them.

I am not kidding.

He is totally correct in stating that a xantrex or sorenson is basically the ultimate power supply for our purposes, though. ever since I saw one in use, I've wanted one for myself.
 
I used to charge a 144 pack of FLA batteries on 3 scooter chargers in series. Chargers have isolated outputs so you can string them together.

Suggest using two of these 60V in series.
