Are all LCD display compatible?

Hi, currently I'm using this LCD as shown in photo 1. I intend to change it to S800 LCD as shown in photo 2.

Both have 5 wires of various colours, but they are not connected in the same sequence.

I wonder if they are compatible, in other words, can I replace my current LCD with S800 LCD?

The reasons for the change are S800 is half the price of my current LCD and I don't really need all the functions of my current LCD, S800 meets my requirements.

Thank you.

Each controller has a very short list of compatible displays

Compatibility largely does not exist in the industry, other than attempts at reverse engineering by DIY open source software projects.

or CAv3 but that is not (just) a display

Negatory: there are NO industry standards in the E-Bike equipment.
Sometime you will also see warnings on controller/display to only use it with a particular matching model controller/display.

P.S.
That S800 display ... there is a analog version and a digital version .... they are NOT compatible.

Thanks for the replies.

My current LCD was caught in a heavy rain, now it is functioning intermittently, that's why I want to replace it with a cheaper one.

Looks like I have to get back the same LCD.

Just wonder what will happen if my current model is phased out in future.

If it's phased out, then you buy a new controller/LCD combo that works together. If you stay in the same controller family, like KT, then all their displays can work with older controllers.

Though they may not display the same information, or allow access to the same settings, as with the previous controller, if the display is changed to a different model (of the same brand/type).

I have this problem (as well as the reverse) with Lishui / Kingmeter displays.

As well, some sellers (or ebike makers) will have different firmware for what outwardly is exactly the same display (or controller) with no external markings showing otherwise, which may make them incompatible (or at least not the same operation) with other hardware than taht for which they were sold.
